  1. Snow started off lightly here, then got heavier but still with smallish flakes and now it's went very light again. Hopefully it'll pep up again soon
  2. I hope not but you might be right! MO warning does say for outbreaks of snow to continue overnight although I realise that's to be taken with a pinch of salt.
  3. Yes, I had the same thought. It means that wherever it falls as snow could be quite interesting. Although having just seen the Netweather alert, low ground is expected to only have 1-3 cms which is pretty pathetic really considering what some people have been getting! Better than nowt though so I'd better not complain!
  4. Not sure if anyone has noticed but the weather warnings are out again for Strathclyde, SW Scotland, Lothian and Borders in addition to NI. Very much hope this comes off but I also hope it spreads to you guys in the East who are just as snow starved as ourselves! http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/st/...t_warnings.html
  5. Must say I agree with you Sawel. Things looked fairly decent right up until tonight and now it looks to be another kick in the teeth! Obviously not over yet by any means but as Sawel says, it aint looking good now. I'm happy for England to have their share but now they're just hogging it!
  6. Hmmm, now you mention it I'm not entirely sure but I thought it was an advance warning for snow. Besides, even if it was for icy roads look how quickly that changed
  7. Well, they included Western Scotland in their warnings for a few hours today and then dropped it so they could easily change again. But as others have said I really wouldn't pay much attention as we could easily see snow even if they don't change it. Look at the snow Shetland has had and not a single warning as far as I'm aware!
  8. I hope so but it does look a bit marginal at the moment with the 850 temps in particular. Will be extremely frustrating if Western Scotland misses out while not far East catches loads of snow! And then again on Tuesday possibly. Time will tell I guess.
  9. Excellent pics there except the last one - I think you just coloured that in white
  10. Hey cwpiper - just curious as to where you seen this mate? Was it the TV forecast? Just wondering as the BBC site only has a warning out for Central and Northern England despite the fact the MO has one for Southern Scotland too!
  11. Yep, and it only took, what, 2 days to add us in there?!
  12. Afraid not mate. To be honest I'm not exactly the best at reading the charts and my negativity regarding snow is basically down to sheer pessimism!
  13. I very much hope that chart is correct EKB but I can't help but be dubious. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if E.K gets a foot of snow and all places around it are bone dry Still find it strange that the MO haven't added us to the early warnings yet.
  14. That is unbelievable! Ach well, I hope the people who are actually getting snow enjoy it Particularly you guys in Aberdeen.
  15. Yeah BI, I don't have much faith in the snow charts myself but as far as I know they are based on the latest GFS run which means that we are at least due some type of precip, for the moment at least, on Sun into Mon. So if England are cold enough for snow then surely we are? I hope All I mean is that at the moment the low is due to track across us as well as England so I feel we should be included in the MO warnings. I agree with others, forget the forecasts - I'm just going to stick my head out the window now and then and hope for the best!
  16. Well going by the snow risk charts, it certainly isn't just England with the snow risk... Not sure what's going on there. Perhaps we'll be added
  17. Ah, that quote from Wellington Boot...genius! And not at all unexpected! I haven't even checked the Model thread for days now because really, what's the point?
  18. What I would give for a polar low! It was a polar low that dumped huge amounts of snow here and in other parts in Dec 2000 after snowing for about 12 hours continuously. Unfortunately that is the bar by which I measure any snow event around here now which probably explains why I'm constantly being let down Let's see how this plays out. Hopefully it'll head our way and not break up before it reaches a lot of us. Didn't get any snow last night so this would certainly make up for it! I'm not greedy though, just one of those polar lows would do
  19. Looking meaty up there. Come to Papa I'm off to bed as well - good luck to all with the snow
  20. Definitely. The snow here was so fine I could barely see it! Snowed for about 5 hours but stopped around 7 leaving a light covering. At least it's nice to look at Would be good to wake up to a surprise like Monday morning.
  21. Well, parts of Scotland appear to be at a snow risk during the night but I'm not very sure where it's meant to come from!
  22. Ah, I see, I was just looking at the radar and thinking surely it's not going to take 12 hours or so for that front to move through? The precip chart you posted up earlier had what I assumed was the middle of the front around Central Scotland at 3AM.
  23. Would certainly agree with that for the most part. When its been forecast as snow, its been rain, and when its meant to be sunny there's been snow ie. Monday there!
  24. Has the front not moved down extremely quickly? I was expecting it this evening!
