I think this might rival friday's event for some people

The pivot point could be to far south for Northern Parts of are Region, i guess it should pep up soon and extend northwards.
Or warm up the ground more
Thinking about it, isn't the pivot point in the perfect position? There's still a gradual northward movement and isn't it supposed to eventually move NE through the night?
-
Is it pivoting too early?

"@DerekTheWeather: @fergieweather the stuff over the English Channel looks worrying!" Yes. Let's see where next MA&E want to run it later.

Sitting in the garden at 3am with the porch light on watching the snow fall. Call me crazy but it's pure bliss.
Hope we all get pasted today
-

Just started snowing properly here. Where are you BristolBlizzard? Must be snowing if you are in Bris?
Coalpit Heath Just noticed it as you said.
-
Why is it that snow always seems to begin at silly hours in the morning
-
Looks like its starting to pull West at the northern extent. Could be just the wrong timing for Bristol for any of the heavier stuff
A few light snow flakes blowing around here now
We still have that ppn coming off the channel that's pepping up, hopefully doesn't pull west too much.
-
Wow this is marginal, rain in Weston, heavy snow in Cardiff.
Hope it turns to snow for you guys. Shouldn't be too long before it gets here.
-
MetO have snow for the West Country between 6pm Tuesday (tonight) until Midday Wednesday. This was updated an hour ago.
To be taken with a pinch of salt but it's a good sign.

Not sure BB I don't think things were progged to move in this fast so I'm not sure if it's a Brucy Bonus before tomorrow's "event" or what? I don't think there's very much clarity at all on this one!. May get a nice dusting out of it in our neck of the woods quite soon though!
Would be brilliant if this was just a nice little taster before the main stuff arrives. Yeah not far away now, potential for a few cm's

Hi Lincstim - I noticed that ppn on the radar "Growing" out of nowhere on the radar over Birmingham! The SW stuff isn't supposed to go too far north but what we are seeing now isn't what was forecast. The models were all showing different for this event down here and this ppn is way ahead of schedule. Here's Ian F's last tweet that highlights the uncertainty even from the Met O:
Hey Kumquat,
Am I right in saying that this band of PPN approaching from the SW is supposed to stall and then pivot? Before heading south again? It seems that the precip is a little more NE than expected, putting us in a very good position I would have thought?
-
I'm going to wait for the next couple of frames before deciding whether to go to bed or not. Starting to look promising
-
I was expecting it to fizzle out but it has intensified in the last couple of frames, hope it stays this way.
-
Just been out and its only very light rain... is any off the heavy stuff moving towards me? Cant get my NW radar to work, having a hard job just keeping my PC working at the mo dont know whats wrong...
kaz
I am EX32
I think the heaviest of the ppn is coming your way, or that is how it looks anyway.
-
I'm just nervous that if I go to bed I will miss the last event of the cold spell....
Another thing I have been wondering is if this front is in fact just moving in much faster that may not bode well in relaity as we were expecting a slow gradual pivoting front which would last hours... Now it could steam through before we blink?
Yeah I've been wandering this aswell. Our best chance of seeing decent prolonged snowfall was from the gradual pivot like you mentioned, but now it seems anything can happen.
Think I preferred Friday when we knew what we were getting lol.
-
Oh yes certainly
I wonder if this showery ppn is ahead of whats coming or if we could all find the event is pretty much over by dawn...?
I'm pretty sure the showery ppn we're seeing now is not the main event. This is the first band, but it's just moving much faster than expected (and more intense?)
But I'm not sure, maybe somebody else can enlighten us what the hell is going on lol
-
Thunder snow on west Dartmoor! Started with rain, then heavy sleet and now heavy snow with a big lightening flash and a roar of thunder as it went from sleet to snow. Dramatic!
Nice!
-
I just want to see a heavy snow shower in the day time tomorrow and ill be happy. Im easily pleased lol
-
light snow in ashton bristol

Are we gonna get hammered like the infamous Bristol Channel streamer of 2009??
One of the best! If I remember correctly, that was completely unexpected aswell wasn't it?

Still no snow in this part of Bristol, must be very slow moving which I guess is a good thing.
