  1. I really like the last photo, great shot
  2. There has been a fair share of cold weather during xmas in the last 10 yrs or so,but for me the last 2 have been mild. Maybe this yr we will get a return of some cold weather during xmas, but maybe not.
  3. I got more snow in late December 2000 then i did in Dec 1995,although the cold was more severe in 95. I got a few inches of snow from that polar low in Dec 2000,the 27th i think to be exact. Most of it hung around till new yrs eve. On xmas eve 95 we were forcast to get snow overnight, but coming back from the pub in the small hrs the skies were crystal clear and we only ended up getting a severe frost much to my dismay.
  4. I agree with your post, but one post 1991 winter month i would give an honourable mention to would be Dec 1995.
  5. The cold spell of Jan 82 was what made me begin to have an interest in weather. I had never seen so much snow in Ireland before. The record Irish min temp was set in Jan 82,-19c i think in the north irish midlands.
  6. I remember that cold snap in late Dec 2000 well,i got some snow out of it aswell. I thought it was a fairly potent cold snap that one and im surprised its not mentioned more often, and also the cold snap of late Feb 2001, in Dublin on the 27th it snowed for the guts of 24hrs.
  7. I would love lots of very cold frosty clear crisp days(which is fav weather after snow) and of course a few snow events. If i got that i would be very happy. But unfortunatly i probably wont
  8. Well thats something i never knew about that clip of Mr Fish,i always thought he was talking about the storm. If i was him i would have been very annoyed by the way it was edited. It also gives the public a kind of bad view of forecasters which isnt right.
  9. Until i was 17 we had no central heating but we did have radiaters. We use to use a superser alot in the morning in winter, they were very handy
  10. Yes i will be keeping an eye on things and on 94L. If it does cross DR hopefully it wont be too bad. I hope the flight over will be smooth as im a nervous flyer at the best of times and if the flight is near any storms out there in the Atlantic im sure there would be quite alot of turbulance.
  11. I think many will get excited if a cold snap is due to arrive for certain. They may say now that they dont want it to be cold cos of the high cost of gas prices, but when it comes down to it if a cold snap is on the horizon this winter i think that the excitment will take over regardless of the gas prices.
  12. I dont like temps over about 25c and especially combined with humidity. I havent experianced temps over that in 2 yrs since i havent been away since 2006 and last summer here and this summer here have been crap. However im heading off to the dominican republic on monday for two weeks, but at least i can handle the heat when on holidays cos you can cool down in the pool or sea. I cant sunbathe for too long cos i just cant handle it
  13. Thank you Roger and Jack Wales for the replies. I will be keeping a close eye on things before i go and when im over there as im sure they will have some sort of internet cafe in the complex im staying in. One thing i do know is it certainly wont be clear blue skies all the time for the two weeks im over there, there will be at the very least im sure heavy thundery downpours there from time to time, and the possibly a tropical storm thrown in too. But that is something that i accept given the time of yr that im going.
  14. Im heading off to the Dominican Republic on the 25th of August for 2 weeks, just wondering is it true that the Dominican Republic is rarely directly hit by hurricanes? Im getting married out there, the last thing i want on my wedding day is to be in the middle of a bloody hurricane
  15. Interesting that, however i imagine certain people would tear it to pieces and say its bs
  16. I dont get air frosts till about mid Nov or so. When i was younger i would get the them sometimes during the second half of Oct. The winter before last i didnt get one until a few days before xmas!
  17. I think your letting your heart rule your head but we can dream
  18. If i was a betting man i would go for a mild and dryish winter. I reckon winter be drier then this summer has been. Since this summer has been a washout that might not be hard even for winter
  19. First time ive ever heard of it,learn something new everyday as they say
  20. This winter will do what most winters do nowadays and that will be letting most of us bloody down again!
  21. I think August will be a very average month, i will go for 16.0 please
  22. Sunny with a bit of a breeze,current temp 20.3c
  23. At my location its always around late July that i first notice the nights getting that little bit longer and especially in early August.
  24. Ive quite a good memory of the cold spell of Feb 91. Ireland of course didnt get as much cold or snow as Britain, but it was a memorable cold spell. On the 6th of Feb we started getting snow showers, although for the next day or so much of the snow thawed to my great disappiontment. On the night of the 9th of Feb we got a good fall of snow,i think the snow came up from France if i remember right. The next day was beautiful, completly clear skies and a lovely covering of snow with the max temp at zero. The following day however the Atlantic made its presence felt and that was it for Ireland anyway. The last day of Feb that yr we got a brief cold snap with some snow i remember.
