I think we will probably get one more shot,i would not be surprised if later in the month the models start showing easterlies like they did at the end of last feb and we all hoped it would happen only for our hopes to turn to dust and the same thing to happen again. ON the evening of Jan 3rd i had about 3 inches of snow.,it was gone by evening time the next day but i was very grateful to get it.

I had one air frost on the 3rd of Jan when the temp got down to -1.4c and that was with snowcover. Thats been my coldest temp so far this winter! pathetic

Two short sharp showers today with some wet snow mixed in. Currently very windy became clear for a while but getting cloudy now. Max temp today 4.9c ,current temp 2.6c

atm i would go for 4.9c but before the end of the month i will probably change it,nearly every Jan these days is above average but maybe this yr will be closer to average so i might bring my guess down a bit nearer the time

I remember the cold snap in Dec 1990. I think a cold front came down from the north on the night of the 7th and turned to wet snow on its back edge,and we had snow showers the next day although the snow didnt settle at my location only in the hills

One thing i remember as a kid growing up in the 70,s and 80,s was that the Decembers were usually mild with little in the way of snow at all. I never had any hope of having snow in Dec as i always thought there was not much hope of it till after xmas. The first time i saw snow on xmas day was in 1984 when we had a few wet snow showers and we were staying in the west of Ireland for that xmas. I dont even remember having snow in Dec 81,although i do remember how cold that month was. Its strange that with our milder winters snow in Dec has become a bit more common then the Decembers of the 70,s and 80,s

I think its really hard to know what will happen during this december. But my best guess is that the atlantic will certainly wake up but may not have things all its own way and there could be some interesting battles between the atlantic and much colder air from the east,just a guess mind but we will see. I will go for the safer option for the cet with it coming in about average at 5.2c

My favourite weather is snow especially because we dont get it too often and thus the novelty factor about it. My second favourite type of weather is clear cold frosty conditions with temps as low as possible. One type of weather i hate with a passion is the weather associated with warm sectors, mild, humid, crap.

i started off badly this year but im seem to be getting better at this

The second time in 4 months i was only 0.1 out, i was 0.1 out in june also. Im sure i will get it sooner or later

It did not feel like xmas cos of the weather and it took away my xmas spirit. Hopefully this year will be alot better i think it will.

The weather last xmas was crap, i hope its better this year,cold and frosty would do me fine.

I think October will be like September mild first half and much cooler second half 9.9 for me please.

I think the coldest time of the year is between mid jan to mid feb so that would be the best time to get cold synoptics. However my fav time to get them is around xmas to give that real seasonal feel and the chance of a white one.
