  1. There was snow in the Dublin hills in october 2003.Also if i remember correctly a few times aswell back in october 1981, i remember that was a very cold october there must have been some snow at low levels in Britain sometime during october 1981 as it was one of the coldest octobers in 20th centuary.
  2. I think september could end up being a fairly mixed month over all, and be a little below average at 13.9.
  3. I think that overall it will be a cool autumn,i dont think we will have an indian summer. I think the weather will start to dry out somewhat overall during the autumn and we could get our fair share of frost something that we hardly got at all last autumn. I think november will be below average with a good chance of seeing some snow sometime in november. All this i admit is just a hunch or guesswork, but i was one of the few who thought we might get a cool wet summer so sometimes a hunch can count for something, sometimes anyway.
  4. I thought winter 2000-01 was a reasonably cold one . I remember we had a cold spell with some snow around xmas then a very cold one at the end of feb with alot of snow. In fact that was the last proper snowfall ive seen here since then
  5. I think this is a very good thread.I would love to think that this summer is a turning point but more then likely imo its probably just a blip. I thought for example that winter 2005/06 might have been some sort of turning point too but that was a false dawn if ever there was one. Maybe we will be on a roll for a few months before normal service resumes.
  6. I have a good feeling about this years autumn/winter season.I have a feeling we could be in for quite a cold one at least by modern standards. One good thing aswell is at least there will be no el nino to contend with this year. i agree with some who said we are unlikely to get an indian summer this year.
  7. Well for the laugh aberdeen 12th november inverness 30th november
  8. I wonder what the coldest recorded temp in june is for the uk?
  9. Well i think that the second half of the year will be cooler then the first and might help balance out things at least a little and that the cet for the year might not be quite so high as some people think
  10. Alovely sunny day here, warmest of the year so far with a max temp of 21.6c. The current temp is 18.4c,with virtually calm and clear conditions
  11. T-storms used to scare the crap out of me when i was a kid. i remember one night i think it was in late june 1986 jesus i didnt sleep a wink the fear, even my poor dog i had at the time was scared stiff and shaking like a leave. Even to this day i think i still have a slight phobia about t-storms.
  12. yes thats the way i see it for me come june 21st the countdown begins!!! LOL
  13. i admit i havent a clue how june will turn out, a few weeks ago i was thinking it might be the most above average month of the summer but now im not so sure. however im sure the above average theme will continue so anyway i will go for 15.3c although a few weeks ago i would have gone for higher.
  14. you will probably pay for it this summer ,we all might as i think we may have a rather unsettled one and not as warm as people think.all this great weather we have been having for weeks i think something has to give and will so over the summer imo
  15. i am really getting worried about our changing climate because of the last 12 months it just seems to be one above average month now after another now with no end in sight. the last 12 months have really shocked me i have to say. i hoped that the winter 2005/06 might have been the start of some type of cool down but alas not,its bloody warmer then ever now. we are going down a dark path not knowing where its leading us and its frightening.
  16. i say we strive to reduce the risk even if it is too our own cost.we have to think about future generations at all cost! i dont see why this is even an argument we have to act and act now.it really annoys me when some people argue if gw is man made or not ,there is no point in taking the risk, and thats the bottom line.why do people have health insurance, car insurance, house insurance etc because of risk! maybe there are some natural factors involved which i think there might be but still it just isnt worth taking the risk imo
  17. i would agree as i think the second part of the year will be cooler then the first and there will at least be some kind of balancing out
  18. if we lose the warm septembers it would at least be a start thats for sure, i hope and pray september this year will be a cool one
  19. good spells of sunshine today but a bit cloudy at times with a max of 16.0c, currently its clear with a temp of 11.5c
  20. is it true that if that nao is negative for much of may that during the next winter it could be negative for much of the winter? i wonder what is the nao forecast for may this year?
  21. mostly cloudy today with a max temp of 14.5c. partly cloudy at th moment with a temp of 12.3c
  22. im another one who backs a more normal summer aswell. i think it will be average at best imo and alot of people may end up being somewhat fooled with this weather we are having at the moment and are probably expecting a scorcher of a summer.
