Topcliffe 0.7C this morning so should be a few seeing frost on cars, etc. My garden has a southern aspect, though, and not here quite yet with 4.9C.
Managed 2.3°C on Tuesday here. Lowest temperature I’ve recorded in September since I moved her in 2016.
Some spots down in Kent as low as -1.5°C this morning it would seem. Impressive for so far south after what’s been such a hot summer.

A beautiful day (Friday) on the N Yorkshire coast and I was able to enjoy it before heading back to Cheshire in the evening. As I came off the A64 on to the M1, it poured down with rain. I really was lucky this time!
Good timing to go back to Cheshire! Vile on the North Sea coast this morning with heavy showers moving in off the North Sea onto the Moors pushed in on a chilly NNE breeze.

Are these official stations. Shap isn't featured for instance. Grisdale at -1.6 degrees very notable. Cumbria features high.
Sorry should of stated these are all amateur stations.
Heres a good map showing all stations that fell below freezing across the UK.

Shap is forecast 1c tonight according to the Met Office so chance of the first air frost of the Autumn on an official Met Office station.

Problem is air frosts have occurred in the UK in all the summer months so its working out the point of first/last frost from the last cold season and the upcoming one.

It looks as though it may be decidedly chilly on the East coast over the weekend with a stiff wind blowing in cloud and a few showers. The problem with having a high pressure area situated in the 'wrong' place!
Shame its not January with sub -8c 850hpa temps as it would be snow showers galore from this set up away from the immediate coast!

Looks like my frost hollow stations across North Yorkshire will get a good workout later this week.
Good chance we may see the first air frost since May.
No air frosts were recorded on my network this summer but these were the lowest temps for each month.
June: 1.1c Keld
July: 2.9c Ravenseat
August: 1.9c Ravenseat

Evening all just been catching up on posts from last few days.
Wednesdays storm missed here @Wold Topper but only a few miles to the east so put on one hell of a show.
Glad your enjoying this side of the Pennines @East Lancs Rain, the weather on the east coast can be quite benign with small diurnal temperature changes, little hot weather and lack of frost/snow but you only have to come a few miles inland for that to change.

Ooo a rare thunderstorm and downpour here as I type.
Can see the towering cumulonimbus here near Malton 20 odd miles away.

Yes, I'm told that it brightened up nicely for the Rail Trail walk between Goathland and Grosmont.
Im in Goathland on Monday.
Managed to dodge the heavy showers here with some thunderstorms to our North around mid afternoon.
A whopping 0.2mm recorded through the gauge.

An OK day at Whitby, a few decent sunny spells this morning, cloudy but dry this afternoon. Cold wind this afternoon which kept all but the hardiest of holidaymakers / surfers / swimmers off the beach and out of the North Sea.
Was up at Beacon Farm this morning in Sneaton for an ice cream, just about warm enough for an ice cream to be acceptable. Lunch at Ruswarp before heading back to base via Glaisdale, not a bad day if you could get out of that keen NE wind.

Got the lightest of light rain in last 20mins, barely wetted the drive, we need something to slake the dust!
Just started here, weather station just tipped 0.2mm.

Another good thing about ICON is its looking like sending the coldest air into Scandinavia first instead of directly to us via the Norwegian Sea (as per EC). This would mean once the winds switch to NE they would be less sea modification therefor colder 850hpa temps. Something to keep an eye over the next few runs. Image below to show ideal angle of attack.
