Thoughts on overnight lows tonight/tomorrow morning...
My stations at Keld and Ravenseat both fell to -9.0°C this morning, the coldest readings across the UK this morning. (Amateur)- 1

UKV showing a snow event for up North on Thursday, probably a hills only job as per usual.

Yeah I mainly concentrated on further south in the update. North Yorkshire at elevation will do fine.
Think I'm heading to North Yorkshires highest village in morning. Greenhow Hill, not far from Harrogate at 400m asl.
There's a camera on the councils website at Greenhow that sits at 397m and updates every 10 minutes for anyone who wants to see what the weather is doing here.

Thank you Kasim. It looks like here in North Yorkshire we'll miss the main ppn to our west.
Met Office forecast is showing numerous hours of heavy snow for Harrogate and you are higher up so il be surprised if you don't see some snow for a time.

It won't snow tho! Keep praying to the Snow gods!
Nowt for us bloody easterners! It will be too mild as the SE wind off the North Sea will mix out the colder quicker.
Looking good for those in the North and West of the region, especially with elevation.
Perhaps some lower areas may lucky as Kasim suggests.
Edit: Perhaps if you head A166 past Fridaythorpe to Garrowby there might be some white stuff temporarily.

ECM snow forecast for Xmas Day. Very unlikely to verify but it would be the best day of my life if it came off.

Christmas Day 2020 was fairly cold. It was barely scraping 3-4c in west London during the afternoon. I remember it being quite sunny and cold. Think it was the coldest Christmas Day in my area since 2010.
Christmas Day 2020 will never be forgotten in this neck of the woods. Short drive above 300m and it was a winter wonderland, wife and I did a morning 10k run. 2 inches of powder snow at -2°C, absolute bliss.

Monday's snow potential a little downgraded this afternoon. Now within range of the EURO4 which isn't going for it, and neither is the Met Office. The GFS12z has also taken a step back. However, the ARPEGE, ICON and NMM all want a piece of the snow for central and northern areas mid-Monday.
Looking like a nowcast on the day... quelle surprise!
Yeh 00Z NMM was excellent, 06Z was decent and 12Z is meh.
Shame really as its been yonks since a good frontal event here in low lying North Yorkshire, probably 2013 was the last one with more than an inch falling! That's 8 years

Although not much it was great to see those along the east coast see some of the white stuff this morning.
I had a collection at Wragby near Market Rasen this afternoon and I came back to Malton via the Lincolnshire Wolds and I was amazed at the amount of snow that at Caistor and how it hadn't melted despite the sunshine.

Light snow here at the moment, currently -1c.
Shame really as they are heavy showers as the hit the coast but the Moors eats them up and give us crappy leftovers!

Just a dusting at home this weekend which I am more than happy with for late November.
Today I ventured onto the North York Moors and it was like being in Scandinavia.
Meanwhile I was busy updating my weather pages with the weather conditions from the rest of the region.
Here are some of the photos I received from the Yorkshire Dales over the weekend where copious amounts of snow fell over high ground.

It's November, and time for the yearly thread dedicated to predicting and recording lowest minima of the upcoming season.
I never have the stats to hand, but last winter brought coldest minima since December 2010 I think? or was it January 2010. I think Altnaharra dropped down to -22 degrees. Correct me if I'm wrong, not sure date. Please can someone post details.
Please use this thread to record your lowest mins, and predicitions for lowest min.
I'll predict a low of -18 degrees in Altnaharra.
Braemar -23c on the 11th Feb this year and -22.4c the following day.

This thread hasn't seen much action so far this season.. a few places may well record their first ground frost Wednesday night / thursday morning at least. We are forecast a minimum of 2 degrees. I'm hoping we can nudge down to 0 degrees to record our first air frost of the season. In an average year we would have normally seen one by now. The last 2 weeks have brought very mild minima, will be nice to just record a few cold nights in low single digits.
This week is looking much better for some more widespread frosts. Still yet to record a ground frost here at home!
Even the deep frost hollows around here have only seen a handful of air frosts so far.

Good to see reports of air frost in parts of far N England. NE Cumbria did well. We managed the lightest of ground frosts. NE England looks primed for an air frost tonight.. we would be, but cloud about to invade..
My weather station at Ravenseat Farm in Yorkshire Dales currently at -2.8c and quite a few others well below freezing across the region.

Clear skies this evening, feels proper chilly here on the Wolds, wouldn't be surprised to see a ground frost, log burner ticking over nicely
Good evening Wolds Topper.
Current weather stations I have on the Yorkshire Wolds that might interest you.
Thixendale: 1.1c
Kirby Grindalythe: 2.0c

Below freezing in a couple of spots across North Yorkshire already this evening.
Currently 4.5c here, so a possibility of the first ground frost here providing the forecast cloud cover doesn't come over too quickly.

Some decent air frosts up in Scotland this morning.
Image courtesy of Lee over at Highland Weather.
A few places in England fell below freezing this morning, the first air frosts in England since June possibly?
Already close to freezing in a few places here in North Yorkshire this evening, so I'm expecting my first air frost on one of my weather stations before the cloud moves in later in the night.

Quite unusual but the only place to record an air frost this morning was Stenness in Orkney with a low of -0.3c.
Impressive for the Islands however it is in a deep valley.

Post above stated Leeming and Benson went down to -1 last week. Chance Shap may go down to freezing tonight. Clearing skies through early hours could produce our first ground frost of the season.
is Tgs grass minimum? We've seen plenty of ground frosts in Aug/Sep in North Yorkshire but still no air frost.

Just spoke to Lee over at Highland Weather and there was too much cloud overnight, not even close to the expected -12° that the Met Office were quoting. Here are the National minimums not including Met O stations.
