  1. So, the downgrades have started, the charts are being watered down, and people in here will soon become almost suicidal. I look with interest and also humour at the emotional rollercoaster ride that a lot of people go through on here, and particularly the MOD site. As ALWAYS, with model watching, everyone is chasing the next event, and it's always days away. A week ago today we were looking at snow showers by this Friday, that came and went, then it was Sunday afternoon into the evening, not a flake in sight, then talk of very heavy snow showers from Monday getting heavier into Tuesday, hmm, not much evidence of that yet, and certainly not really supported by the BBC, and now we are chasing at Red alerts and blizzards on Friday, then rain on Saturday. Phew. i am not a mild ramper,, in fact, quite the opposite, I almost pray for snow and I am glued to this site, and I will be addicted to this regional site all week in the hope snow is spreading my way. My point is, these 'experts' on here that look at colourful chart pictures and can see blizzards, heavy snow, deep cold lasting 2 weeks etc etc, are really wishing these things, because they never materialise. I'm looking forward to seeing some snow this week (hopefully) but I think I'll put the snow plough away for another year. Good luck everyone!
  2. Is my weather station correct ? It's showing 8c in the shade ? Wasnt expecting that today ?
  3. Are the BBC really playing it down, or do they genuinely believe that there will be minimal snowfall due to the dry cold air ? I don't go along with the silly hype words I see such as ' gonna be buried' and 48 hr blizzards if that comes off etc etc. I think many inland areas may stay very cold, frosty but mainly dry. My phone app ( which I know is crap) doesn't show a single snowflake right through to next week. ?
  4. I have also enjoyed the amazing charts that have developed over recent days, and can't wait until the really cold air arrives. I'm just, however, not buying all the hype about the widespread heavy snow that will follow. At the beginning of the week, posts were saying, snow showers by Friday, then snow by Sunday. Then snow by Monday night, now I'm hearing snow by Thursday. The latest is snow may settle in places from the heavier showers. Sorry for the glum post in all the excitement, but until I see heavily falling snow and sub zero temps, I'm thinking we may all be getting slightly carried away with what we are hoping for, rather than what will actually materialise. Fingers crossed.
  5. Apparently all the schools are shut from next Monday already...??
  6. Just been in the MAD thread, and my God, are they excited little kids or what. They are going so overboard with this cold snap. The Meto dont seem overly excited just yet. Everyone knows things will go tits up nearer the time, as it's still way off and the charts throw up these pictures on purpose I'm sure just to wind these people up. ! I do love watching them get so excited then the very next day, when the charts change, and they always do, they become almost suicidal. i am aware that there is now cross Model agreement on the cold Easterly arriving, and I'm having a bad day hence my moody rant.
  7. Currently having a snow shower now in St Neots, Cambs, but I'm not too excited. Been into the Midland thread and they are just reporting light snow flurries and barely settling and the front weakens moving south. So don't have high hopes of anything to note.
  8. Looks that way doesn't it. Temps around 4 or 5, back up to 7 by midweek. A few snow showers across SE corner, but that's about it. Now they're pinning their hopes on mid month already. ! That'll go belly up by then as well, no doubt.
  9. It keeps turning back to sleet. Don't expect too much, it's very marginal here, as only the heavier bursts are snow, otherwise mostly drizzle with a few flakes.
  10. Can't see it amounting to much, as it keeps turning light and sleety. It much be so marginal here, only the heavier bursts turning to snow.
  11. Had light snow falling for about 20 mins, getting heavier now in St Neots in south Cambs
  12. Light snow falling in St Neots in south Cambs, nothing to write home about yet
  13. Amazes me that when we have a cold Flow from the North West, with the showers packing in, and the air is cold enough to produce snow, the showers never seem to make it across to our area. But then as soon as the air warms slightly which means all showers will be of rain, hey presto, every shower makes it across to East Anglia ?
  14. Looking at the latest radar, it looks like sleety rain south of roughly Milton Keynes, and a large mix of rain and sleet further north, with snow in the heavier bursts and back edge snow.
  15. Just steady cold rain here in St Neots, west Cambs. No signs of any sleet.
  16. We now have decent size flakes falling, it's steady but not settling as yet. St Neots, Cambs.
  17. Can report the odd flake blowing around, but that's about it from St.Neots !
  18. Looking at the radar and the current movements of the ppn it looks at this stage that it is slipping down the East coast and not making it very far inland. It appears the bulk of it will hit north Norfolk and will probably miss me in Cambs. Win some, lose a lot !!
  19. Hi, tomorrow I will bringing my County Football team to play Derbyshire at Mickleover FC at 2pm. The forecast isn't that good with rain due around lunchtime. Can you advise those in that region if it is likely to start as snow or just rain. I have heard reports that it could be a snowy few hours ? Any thoughts please ?
  20. If only it was colder. Last night when I went to bed, it was alittle frosty and showers were non existent. Now the frost has gone, temp up to 1.5c and that mass of shower activity that has developed has surprised me. I think the heaviest ppn is going to miss me unfortunately, but it think it will be rain /sleet anyway.
  21. Just had quite a heavy Rain shower. Temp was a balmy 5.3C when it arrived only dropping to 4.4C during the shower. So the temps here have got to drop like a stone, and quickly later. Not very hopeful of snow here.
  22. Doesn't look like any showers are forming this evening in the wash area. Last night these were heavy and moved diagonally S.Westerly through the area. There are warnings out again for the same, but I think that's just to cover themselves. This time yesterday you could see them forming. Boring night ahead...
  23. Sunny skies here now in Cambs. and the snow is melting fast. Temp. up to 2.9C now and looking at the radar, the showers out near the wash are very light and fading fast, so no prospects of further snow here today. Still, must not be greedy. ,
