  1. Cold but dry week ahead. There's no straws left to clutch either !
  2. Temp just went up to 2c and we are currently having a light RAIN shower. Quite surprised really.
  3. Just checked and watched forecasts again, and had a look at the latest radar, and seriously - where's the excitement coming from. ? Any beefy looking showers over Wales fade away before they even get as Far East as Birmingham. Unless, they pep up and merge into a more organised band, which I personally can't see happening, we are looking at a lovely crisp, but dry cold winters weekend. The more you listen to the hype, the more disappointed we will all become.
  4. Can't help thinking, that as per usual, the hype has whipped this colder spell into major events with widespread snow. Not one single forecast predicts much in the way of snow in our region. Our hopes rely on band of showers through tomorrow, very hit and miss, and 65% chance of them being rain/sleet. Then Sunday the weather front from the south at this stage is not predicted to go very far north. So I can't quite see what all the excitement is about, at this stage, unless cold, frosty nights floats your boat.
  5. This forum is on fire tonight, but without trying to dampen everyone's spirits, we have been here many times. Please don't get too carried away - just yet. We all know that the charts will change tomorrow slightly, leaving a lot of people almost suicidal. Fingers well and truly crossed.
  6. As expected, not a single flake made it across to Cambs. Showers that appear to be quite beefy, suddenly evaporate when they reach half way across the country.
  7. Most of the showers seem to fade the further inland they travel. Very few are actually reaching as Far East as East Anglia, so not very hopeful of seeing anything in Cambs.
  8. Still seeing reports that it's snowing lightly further north, I.e Sheffield, and Lincs. area. Not sure if it's down to elevation or whether the colder uppers are a few hundred miles further north. Anyone think it will sink south and turn this light rain abit sleety ?
  9. Interesting day to say the least. Sounds like some unexpected heavy snow has turned up across the S.East. Gutted personally as the northern extent is probably Stevenage area, and in 25 miles north up the A1 than that in Cambs. Never mind, to all those that see the last falls of snow this winter... Enjoy ! (lucky bar-stewards) lol
  10. We have had frequent light snow showers for much of the day so far, although nothing nearly heavy enough to settle. Reasonably warm sun in between the showers.
  11. Had light snow falling all day -sometimes very light. Still a slow thaw taking place though.
  12. Well, what can I say. It snowed all day yesterday, but after the initial heavy settling snow yesterday morning, the persistant snow during the day didnt really settle. But overnight, we had very heavy snowfall leaving a good covering of a few inches (havent been out to measure yet) Quite amazing really. Dont think we will see any more - but certainly not complaining.
  13. Moderate steady snow now. At last its just starting to settle on the roads and pavements slowly turning them white...
  14. Up for work, and not at all surprised. Still wet outside on roads and pavements, thin cover of snow on grass and cars. It looks like very fine snow falling at the min, but there is also splashes in the puddles, so must be sleety. I never believe the hype anyway, because I know my area !
  15. Snow abit heavier, now started to settle on cars and the borders in my front garden. Paths and roads still soaking wet, cant really see those being white in the morning. edit : thats the borders in my garden - the cars are on the road outside..!! lol
  16. Well, I will believe it when I see it. We currently have a strong icy wind, but temp. says 5.3c and skies are quite bright at the min. We did have light snow flurries earlier though.
  17. I must be missing something....Just seen the latest BBC forecast, and listened to various comments....but I just cant see where the snow this evening and overnight is coming from here in Cambs and surrounding regions. Ive just watched the radar slides and all the heavy ppn has moved NW up and into the Irish sea. They keep saying 'if anything the band of snow will slip south into EA later and through tomorrow..? Can someone enlighten me as to where from and how they think this is going to happen. ?
  18. Im not going to get very excited about today, as most of the ppn doesnt get this far East. Looking at the radar its all light ppn, which will probably mean cold, wet, sleet. Maybe later tonight and tomorrow could see it turning alittle more snowy, however the heavier stuff will always be over in the West. Interesting day or so coming up...
  19. According to Rain Today radar, the band should reach me around 10.30pm tonight. And It shows it grey, which I think is sleet. Also known as sitting on the fence...lol
  20. And these charts its further north... :-( NAE has snowfall north of the Midlands, so a definite north shift in the NAE and at 36hrs the front has moved further west:
  21. On that chart yes, but ive seen charts where the shift is further north - truth it - its a wait n see situation...
