  1. Actually appears to be raining here now with one or two big flakes floating down with it.
  2. Just one or two flakes floating around in the wind. Not looking too good now but at least the thaw is still very slow.
  3. Thought i just noticed a couple of snowflakes too. I can't see any hills from my house, so hard to see what is approaching.
  4. Yes, with this cloud cover, temperatures may not fall away at all. If the thaw does continue throughout the night, it could get quite foggy by morning?
  5. Summer was in 2006...i don't know when the next one is due! Anyway, still nothing here in Stourbridge...i get the feeling something is on its way for later though.
  6. Well get it going then! We're waiting down here!
  7. I used to teach in the school in Haughton, so knew some of the people who were responsible for those lights! Now where is this snow? I'm wondering if I am just missing it and its gone slightly north of me. Quite possible given the direction of the wind.
  8. Hmmm, interesting, nothing here in Wordsley...surely Brierley Hill isn't high enough to kill any showers! ..see, i'm holding back on pressing add reply just in case.... ....nope, still nothing, well theres only one way of making it snow...and thats by pressing that button!
  9. Well i hope something happens for you soon, I used to live in Gnosall between Newport and Stafford so know that part of the country quite well. Used to enjoy walking up the Wrekin or going to Shrewsbury. Remember watching Telford take the brunt of the Cheshire gap showers as well while we got nothing in Gnosall!
  10. But we still have lots on the ground and the thaw hasn't hit us too hard.
  11. Hope you getting lots up in Telford and Shrewsbury. We're getting nothing down here...hopefully it'll snow enough for you to make up for last Tuesday. Kind of balances things out a bit if you get lots and we get little or none! If only the weather had a sense of being fair!
  12. Well I've just been to Himley Hall Park to walk the dog. OK, it hasn't snowed in a while and looks like we're not going to see some for a while now. But, Himley Hall park still looks beautiful despite the thaw. Lots of kids out sledging and lots of people still out enjoying the snow. So thats helped me to stay upbeat....and my dog had a great time too!
  13. Not snowed in a while here now. Where is it then all this sticking snow? Who's holding it back from reaching Stourbridge?! Gone quite gloomy though...November 2009 style gloomy.
  14. Exactly, i have to keep reminding myself its the 10th of January...i keep wanting to post 'looking forward to an Easter like 2007' and then realising how early in the season we still are! Its been a rollercoaster already though hasn't it? All those dissappointments around christmas...the Cheshire Gap showers that went the wrong way for us...the heavy snow that was mainly heavy rain. Mild sectors everywhere...even as late as Saturday last week! Quick dustings from fast moving troughs. Then of course the big one that finally did it last Tuesday. Not to mention all the frosts we've had since mid December, (yest my mind still recalls that solitary Autumn frost on November 30th/December 1st for some strange reason!). Last Monday mornings frost before the snow was spectacular without a snow cover obsuring the view of how frosty it was. And i am even finding today exciting...knowing that the situation could change dramtaically at short notice. Also having the radar playing up is adding excitement too. Then there's all of that glorious sunshine...even on Boxing Day when it was milder the sunshine and following sunset was simply fantastic. The sunshine this week on the snow covered ground was beautiful. And i've not even mentioned the return of the much missed icicles! Then there is still the week ahead. It might go horribly wrong but it could go wonderfully right. I kind of hope the radar plays up again so we'll either get a nice surpirse or will never know how close we were! One small downside....its very likely i'm going to work tomorrow...but thats what keeps food in our bellies and a roof over our heads!
  15. Nice to see some optimism on here! I'm sure things will get a bit better later and we should have a nice fresh wintry scene to wake up to tomorrow...even if the depths are no longer there. Liked i said ealier, there could still be some surprises on the way. The situation isn't too far away from settling snow right now.
  16. Columbus...and believe me, it certainly isn't just us that suffers from let downs and marginal situations! Makes it more acceptable when we have a let down here knowing that they have them there as well...although they certainly haven't this week! But then again, neither have we!
  17. Snowing here again. This reminds me of something that happened when I lived in Ohio for 2 years, but much more scaled down here. In my second December there, it was very cold and snowy...quite like the last week but temperatures got down to -18c there rather than the -10c here. Anyway, after a decent bout of snow..we were forecast to have a lot of snow and very large accumlations. As the storm apprached, temperatures went just above freezing and dew points rose. We had a day of heavy rain, sleet and snow. I remember getting to my car that night and there was almost a foot of this very bizzare slushy stuff. It was like walking through a giant Slush Puppy! Driving through it on the main roads wasn't too bad actually, though the back roads looked dicey. Now we are certain;y not going to get a foot of slush here, but the general situation is very similar.... ...and in case you're wondering what happened next in Ohio...the rest of December was very coold and snowy but January and February were unusually mild and snowless for Ohio.
  18. Turning to rain here now as well. Its just so 2000's! Never mind, its only the 10th January and here in Stourbridge, its been a pretty good cold spell... ...and you never know, there might be a surpirse or two around the corner. Its weather and it'll do what it wants at the end of the day, no matter what any computer or person says. Thank goodness for last Tuesday otherwise i might not be so upbeat about it all!
  19. Well I think there is a lot to be happy about. 1. We have had the most fantastic week, far better than anything in the past 10 years. 2. Temperatures might be above freezing but they are holidng steady around 1-2c east to west. Thats not that bad! 3. There is a finger of precipitation moving down from Lincolnshire. 4. Precipitation is starting to move across from the continent. 5. Its only 11:00! 6. Light snow on and off all morning. Now for a rather large coffee!
  20. Looking at the lastest radar, my previous comment is completly wrong! Shows what i know! Lots more showers developing more towards the south. I reckon that Solihull, Redditch and Bromsgrove should get in on some showers later.
  21. Yeah, seeing that its still morning, you're right of course. My problem is that i look at things as they are and don't allow for changes. I should work for the Met Office!
  22. Actually, looking at the radar again, I don't think i'll see much more today. Showers seem to heading to the north of here now. Was still a nice surprise though...and we still have tomorrow to come.
  23. Woke up to Radio 4 this morning. Forecast said at 8am that today for the West Midlands would be dry and sunny with an outside chance of the odd flurry. Last hour has seen light to moderate snow and it looks like theres more to come. Just stopped snowing now.
  24. Well stopping here and breaks in the cloud heading this way. That was an alright little surprise shower wasn't it? I'm assuming it bodes well that snow has travelled from the east coast to here? Even if it was just a little bit?
