  1. Well, a bit of a break from radar watching for a couple of days now. Not that its been that worth it so far, before xmas and after xmas. I remember eading somewhere once that even during some of Britian's snowiest and harshest winters there were still parts that missed out. I can't help thinking of that right now and thinking about us here in the West Midlands. And even in Stourbridge with a few light dustings here and there i've done better than other locations. Chin up, theres always February 2007, April 2008 and earlly February 2009. 3 years in a row we've had decent snow events. Maybe its just not our turn this time! However, I am enjoying these very frosty big old sunrises every morning at the moment! See you all again for the next potential fall of snow!
  2. Never mind getting rid of the South East...i say flatten the Peak District and we might get something off a north easterly!
  3. Nothing upwind of here at all now on our phantom trough. Something will get as far as here one day that isn't rain!
  4. Well the trough heading this way looks like its dying its final death. So no snow tonight. However, just been out with the dog and some of the surfaces really have become quite slippery.
  5. Right, thats yet another snow chance gone away then... ..whats next?
  6. Oh yeah, i know that. I'm just having a moan because yet again i've gone out somewhere and got wet. I feel like that since the end of October, rain just waits for me to decide to have a day out somewhere! Maybe i'll give the cold spell one last chance!
  7. Just plain moderate bursts of rain here too. I think i'm done with this cold spell. Actually, if i'm being honest, after the last few months, i think i'm just fed up with rain!
  8. Looks like the light flurry activity is done for the night now. Was expecting nothing and left with a very light dusting. So we're a tiny bit ahead before we start! Skies were trying to clear a little while ago so should get a good frost and should have quite a wintry scene in the morning.
  9. Everso slight dusting of snow here. Just got clipped by a shower to the west.
  10. Happy new year! Lets hope that the snowstorm of February 2001 finally makes it here this year! Or the 2012 snowstorm arrives early. Or even the 2019 one.
  11. Same thing happened last week though. A good couple of cm fell up in Brierley Hill and just sleety rain down here in Wordsley. I'm sure my little patch of Wordsley is always just below the snow line!
  12. Just rain at this end of Stourbridge. No snow at all here.
  13. ...its quite annoying that i'm away in East Anglia from Monday to Wednesday! I'll have no internet access while i'm there so i will only know what has happened when i drive back into the West Midlands on Wednesday evening. It'll be kind of nice to bring the mystery back into it i suppose!
  14. Well from a very selfish point of view, i need rain on Wednesday as that is the day i'm driving back from Lowestoft in Suffolk. My heart still wants snow though! From Thursday onwards anything could happen. I'm going to take it one event at a time. We haven't done as well as others for snow in the cold spell we've had so far. I think things are looking promising, maybe not for a big snow event next week but for something interesting further down the line. Lets talk again on Wednesday evening and see where we are at!
  15. Well i'm away in Lowestoft between Monday and Wednesday next week visiting family. Looks like i could miss something. Hope the drive back across the A14 is ok on Wednesday.
  16. A lot of us will have our own local events that we can recall. For example the end of February 2004 when i lived in Sunderland was very special. Over a foot of snow fell in one night in some very localised and very heavy snowfall. The one that i think the event that will stick in most minds is that day in August 2003. Whether it record breaking temperatures in the south or severe thunderstorms in the north (which is what i had). February 2001 should have been the event of the decade....but we all know what happened there (for us in England and Wales anyway!).
  17. Well christmas day ends very wet here. Heavy rain all evening beating against my windows. Brings back memories of...um... 2 weeks ago! Hope you've all had a good day!
  18. Heavy rain here in Stourbridge right now. Washing away the last of the lying snow and the slight frost from earlier this evening,
  19. Yeah, i have been unlucky. Even up by the centre of Wordsley the snow has been topped up. It seems to be just this little area around the Glass Cone that has missed out. Great scenes up in Brierley Hill though. We had this same problem last February. I seem to live in a little warm dip!
  20. Strange goings on here. Sleet never really turned to snow in Wordsley and if anything hurt our small accumlation a little. Just been up to Brierly hill about a mile away and very heavy snow fell there with a good accumlation. Ah well, thats what you get for living slightly lower down. Thats our lot for tonight i take it then?
  21. On the turn here now...looks more like sleet.
  22. Well its definitly just rain at the Wordsley end of Stourbridge. But we have quite a bit of varaiation in altitude around here so i'm not surprised that we're reporting slightly different things.
  23. Rain starting to come down a bit heavier now...can't see any wintryness in it at all. Will keep an eye on it.
