  1. Snowing moderately here now...i think we get something today. Lots more coming from the north sea and at points a bit further south as well. They should reach us!
  2. Snowing lightly here but starting to pick up a bit. Looks like the stuff from the north sea might just get us. Think the bulk of them will go just to the north though.
  3. Snowing heavily again...i think the next lot is arriving. The question is....how much of it will we get before it slips southwards?
  4. Been snizzling here since the snow band moved away. As for the other snow band, i reckon its moving north west and we should get something from it. Central and southern areas of Birmingham should get something too. The heaviest is over for us though and i i reckon it would just be another cm or 2 at best for these partss through the night. What a day though! Far exceeded expectations!
  5. Very light snow here now. I don't see the stuff to the south east getting here before the low slips away. What chances for showers tomorrow?
  6. According to the radar, the snow is finally about to come to an end. Several hours of persistent snow. Some very heavy bursts. Over 10cm accumlation. I think we can call that a result don't you?
  7. STILL heavy snow here...wow. However, i don't think that very heavy lot over the south will get here, the low will move before it does....but lets be honest...does it really need to get here after today?
  8. OK, Telford and Shewsbury...its closing in on you from the east and its closing in on you from the west. Surely you cannnot miss this lot!
  9. Unbeliveable! Snow is really starting to pep up here again! I thought that we were done!
  10. Around 10cm here as well. We have done excellently. Snow has stopped now but as far as i am concerned...job done, that'll do me nicely! Best of luck to the rest of you overnight.
  11. Yes, getting lighter here as well and i reckon it'll come to an end soon. Still that heavy band over Wales everso slowly inching towards us. One final bow from that maybe? All in all an excellent day here in Stourbridge. More than i could have hoped for. Must be nearing 10 cm here in Wordsley and that beats 2nd February last year.
  12. Well, thats me completly embarrassed about my moaning of 'how rubbish it is here for snow' last weekend. Best bit of humble pie i've ever tasted today! ..and still snowing heavily.
  13. Theres been a couple of reports in the area of people saying its looking a little sleety or it looks like rain. I didn't think this was a marginal event here? Anyway, snowing quiyte heavily now...though it has to be said, the main road through Wordsley is actually running better than normal for half past 5!
  14. Coleshill to the east of Birmingham is reporting heavy rain showers on xcweather. That can't be right? I'm assuming its some kind of automatic reporting system? Snow still coming down pretty well here. Lets get some out towards Telford and Shrewsbury now so we can have complete coverage around the West Midlands and surrounding counties!
  15. Surprisingly, despite what the radar says, its snowing moderately here again. I keep thinking the event is over but it just peps up again!
  16. Snow is easing here now. I'm shocked that Shrewsbury missed out again. How on earth did that happen? I assumed our snow this morning came through Shrewsbury and Telford to get here. I was at work so wasn't watching the radar. I really hope Shrewsbury gets something tonight because that is just rotten luck.
  17. Snow is starting to pep up quite a bit here as well. Hmmm, strange goings on indeed.
  18. Snowing very lightly here. I'm not so confident about more for later but thanks to this morning it wouldn't be a huge disaster if nothing came out of it. Wondering if this light snow might pep up a bit like it is elsewhere.
  19. Do your remember me complaining about my little snow free zone in Wordsley last week? Well i've just travelled back from Rowley Regis and it seems that Wordsley has the most snow this time! First time i've ever known more snow at home than my work place. You are allowed to remind me of this morning when i complain about the Wordsley snow free hole again! We've done alright today haven't we?
  20. Well i've been sent home from work early because of the snow. A bit OTT but i'm not saying no! We've had quite a bit in Wordsley this morning. Arond 1 to 2 inches in the stourbridge area, locally a bit more. So we've actually done ok this time and i can stop complaining about the lack of snow now. So whats happening now? I'm assuming i'm too far north for anything interesting tonight, though the band over North Wales looks interesting. But if it snows no more i'm happy. The way things were looking on Saturday, I would have taken 1cm of snow this week, so my expectsations have been exceeded. Just starting to snow again now as well!
  21. I've lived in some snowy places in my time. Sunderland being the most snowy. I also lived in Ohio for 2 years and say quite a bit of cold and snow out there. Stourbridge certainily isn't the worst place i've lived in for snow. Bangor in North Wales wins that award. I studied at university there from 1998 to 2001. The city itself is at sea level and it would be so frustrating to see the mountains get plastered in snow while it just rained heavily in Bangor. I grew up in Lowestoft and lived there from my birth in 1978 to 1998. So i got the full force of 1987 and 1991 as well as numerous other localised events. December 1995 being notable. This is probably one of the most frustrating cold spells i've witnessed...but at least the snow showers are getting nowhere near here. Its worse when you can see them. Living by the north sea coast and watching the snow fall out at sea while you're under sunshine is an awful experience...particularly when it does it for days and days on end! (Although on one occasion when i was in Lowestoft they were lighting up with lightning which made up for it...particularly after dark!) For this week, as long as i can't see the snow showers, then i suppose i'll have to do without them!
  22. Despite what some people are saying, I just don't see much interesting going on here in the West Midlands over the next few days. Tuesday's snow will fizzle before it gets here and I can't see how Friday's will work out. How do I know this? Not from any models or forecasts...just on the fact that we seem to be the unlucky place this winter. (Or one of them, I don't think the south west are doing well either) So, what shall we do over here while the eastern half enjoy their snow?
  23. Well my view on Tuesday that it will either fizzle out before it gets here or we will get mild sectored again and it will rain. At best it will snow but it'll be moving so fast it'll just leave a dusting. That seems to be the form so far this winter here.
  24. Well light snow is being reported around the West Midlands and I've got rain again. Washing away the frost that was starting to form earlier. I don't like this cold spell...its just not working out!
  25. Its actually raining here right now. Talk about a massive smack in the face!
