  1. Yes, quite surpirsed myself. Settled down to dinner forgetting about the snow thinking that flurry was it. Go through to the kitchen to feed the dog to see a dusting outside on the cars and snow coming down quite well. Should be over soon looking at the radar. Although the radar isn't always helpful!
  2. ...and of course as i press post it starts snowing again!
  3. Still nothing here after the brief flurry about 20 minutes ago.
  4. Snow stopped here now. Ah well, something is better than nothing. Those Skegness showers not surviving long i'm afraid.
  5. Looks like our light snow is a seperate little shower that has formed. Interesting.
  6. Snowing lightly here too. Won't be much here but nice to look at.
  7. Well a bit of light stuff would make a nice end to a brilliant week. I'm wondering about the showers coming in at Skegness. Wonder if they might give us a flurry or two later on. Lots of little interesting bits and pieces to be looking at.
  8. Hooray! Always good news when you start chiming in! Where's the other Stourbridge lot?
  9. hHmm, interesting little band that, the way its swinging around from the north east. Might give a snowflake or two in these parts later...doubt it but there you go. Shame Sunday has been downgraded. But if every snow event predicted for the Midlands had come off we'd be buried by now! On the bright side though, we have a good covering of snow, fanatastic winter sunshine by day and very frosty nights....I mean, if Sunday doesn't work out for us, there isn't a lot to complain about in this little corner of the West Midlands anyway! More of this beautiful weasther please!
  10. I don't think there will be any snow in this area overnight. Conditions are just not favourable. The showers aren't really getting any further west than the A1 right now. If it does turn milder next week, lets face it...we've had a good run haven't we?
  11. Yes, temperatures should start falling again now as the sun gets low in the sky. I'm surprised theres not more snow in the east. Away from North Yorkshire, there doesn't seem to be much activity. Keep the cloud way over there I say so we can see how cold we can get again tonight! (Last chance for now as i expect the next couple of nights after tonight to be cloudier and breezier)
  12. I'm a teacher and my school is closed. I can actually get there because i use public transport anyway and National Express buses and London Midland trains seem to be doing very well at the moment. However, its not my decision to close the school. There are other members of staff who live out in the countryside and it would be dangerous for them. We have a lot of children and there has to be the right amount of staff to open the school...so i guess the headteacher has done her maths! I would happily go in to help though if asked because i can and i would happily have children from other classes in my room if another teacher couldn't make it. But not my decision and i respect the decison of those in charge. So i may as well enjoy an extra day at home. The annoying thing is that my maths group were just starting to pick up on written methods of addition on Tuesday and i was looking forward to pushing them further with it. I just hope they remember where we left off when we do go back or we'll have to get the cubes out and start again!
  13. Yes, i think that whatever happens now...we can all be well satisfied with this cold spell around this part of the West Midlands. And to think that it all looked so bleak for us last weekend. So next point of interest then...low temperatures. Can anywhere make negative double digits?
  14. Well the wind is stronger than it was in that NE flow before xmas isn't it? Thats got to help the showers get further. West Midlands might still be that bit too far though. Time will tell.
  15. You've got me wondering now...its holding together well over South Yorkshire isn't it? Still a way to go though. Though i'm not sure if i want brief light snow showers ruining the chance of getting some very low temperatures tonight.
  16. Actually that shower at Sheffield is a little interesting because it has survived the North Yorkshire Moors. Somehow i don't think it'll survive the Peak District as well! NElies just don't work for us...northern England is just too hilly! Hoepfully it'll break up enough for us to keep our clear skies. Interested to see how low the temperature can go tonight.
  17. I agree, i like it when seasons act like they should do. I would take another mild break here or there for the rest of winter...like the Boxing Day one. Looking ahead, i would like a severe winter to end abruptly with an Easter similar to 2007. What an Easter that was! Fantastic weather! Loved every minute of it. And my goodness how Easter 2008 was different!
  18. I don't think the showers from the north will get here. They didn't before xmas...(except one in Birmingham!) Its strange watching high cloud to the south west actually move away instead of approaching as the system moves away.
  19. Blue skies, bright sunshine and an icy wind. Perfect winters day!
  20. So the clearance is on the way then. I don't think it will thaw too much. In fact, the temperature might even drop a little under blue skies. Would be interesting to get a clear evening and a clear night now to see how far those temperatures can drop. I'm not sure we'll snow again this week but if a good easterly can get going then who knows? As for now, still snowing here but gravity doing its work on the clumps on snow sitting on the washing line!
  21. Well i thought this should be stopping by now and we should be heading into clear skies. But its still snowing. Shouldn't be long. I wouldn't mind a sunny afternoon...will make it look glorious outside!
  22. Indeed, if it could start heading more westerly again then we would do quite well! Still coming down here but starting to brighten up a bit now. Should think this will end soon.
  23. Snow getting heavier again. Having looked at the radar again, there is a more southern movement to this snow and that would take it away from us quite soon.
  24. Look at that lot on the radar. Heading through Corby towards Coventry and aimed right at us!
  25. Yes, the intensity of the snow is increasing but not the size of the flakes! Looks similar to 2nd Feb 2009 when snow streamed across the Licolnshire coast to us without loosing its oomph. My only worry is the low to the south of us pulling things around and making these showers go more southwards. But hey...so what if it does? I've got plenty of snow on the ground and a day off work!
