  1. How many times has milder pockets of air in the middle of the night ruined events for us now this winter?
  2. We've got no chance of anything as we're currently downwind of Telford!
  3. Fizzling out just as they reach here giving us nothing more than a few flakes in the wind. Clear skies as far as can be seen to the northwest now. Need something bigger and meatier on that radar!
  4. I'm wrong again! Just starting to snow here now.
  5. Can see it on the radar now. Fizzled out right on top of you! Showers seem to struggling to get south of the M54.
  6. Really? Just looked out, just patchy cloud in an otherwise clear evening. Nothing close on the radar either.
  7. Showers starting to become a bit more numerous to our northwest again. Not for everywhere though. They don't look on track for here for example. But I think some of us in this area should start looking out for wintry showers of varying types over the next hour or two. Meanwhile...turned very icy indeed out there.
  8. Although there is a lot of high ground around the borders. It's when it gets to the cities of the northwest we will see it's true colours. Sadly, as already mentioned, think it will just be a wintry mix at best here...just as the showers through today have been.
  9. Oh I see. Well that just makes it more impressive then!
  10. Little wintry showers passing through today dropping a variety of precipitation. As far as general cold spells go, this is quite a poor one. However, it is impressive for one that contains north westerly winds. I do think we're squeezing the very best we can out of the pattern this week. So I'm happy as long as something better comes along later in the winter.
  11. Despite it turning to rain, there was some amazing snowfall last night. We also kept our snow cover so it's not all bad. This winter is such an improvement on last year. However, looking at the bigger picture, this is not a good winter so far. Right now it would rank with 2007 or maybe 2008 ( although that year, we had the best still to come). Would now love to see some proper cold and powdery snow. That would help!
  12. Oh dear. Sleet here and snow cover getting sloppy and starting to go. Turning into a bit of a theme this winter, snow events turning to rain. Although this time we'd managed to get quite far before it turned. These NWerly set ups are just too risky for the West Midlands.
  13. Incredible snowfall right now. Best of winter so far!
  14. Wow. Very heavy snow here and settling fast.
  15. Things are devloping more over north west Wales. This is either a peppering of showers ahead of the main band which could easily die away or...and I hope it's this...a development on the southern flank of that heavy precipitation off north west England and it will keep on developing.
  16. Don't think it'll even touch Stafford to be honest (that first chunk anyway). Our chances come later in the night.
  17. So yes, think I was wrong originally. The first lot is going to go well east of here. But great chances later in the night. So with that heavy finger of precipitation off the coast of northwest England, I'm going to for it passing through Stoke, Leicester and Northampton. Could give some quite prolonged falls...it's quite a drawn out peice of precipitation. Might even go a bit further east than that looking at it again. Enjoy!
  18. Although to be fair, if you're right and that bit does go to the east of Brum...all that means is that we'll get slammed by the bigger piece currently over Northern Ireland! Win-win! (Providing everything holds together as it is now...and there isn't a sudden shift of direction...and we don't get caught up in any milder sectors...apart from those things...how can it go wrong?!)
  19. I was about to reply by arguing that our showers have been coming from that direction all day...which may have been true up to now because there seems to be a shift. Are showers now heading more west to east?
  20. What a load of rubbish my last post was. Radar filling again in North Wales and heading this way! Sorry.
  21. Showers do seem less numerous now compared to earlier. So unless you're lucky enough to be under one of those streams...all eyes on later in the night now. We certainly have got ourselves into a dry gap here now.
  22. Could be interesting if we have no radar over night...tracking the event simply through people's observations!
  23. The way it's going it's going to get to here/Welshpool/Leicester/Peterborough (delete as appropriate) before midnight.
  24. Hard to tell, only going off what I can see on the satelite and the radar...but I think we are in with a real shout at this time. Also hard to tell if I'm only seeing what I want to see! Radar plays tricks on my biased eyes sometimes!
