  1. Quite a few weather systems do that when we get heavy rain move in from the south west. The radar shows it has cleared but we still get a period of gunk and drizzle to get through before it clears. Nicer in these circumstances obviously!
  2. There is a movement south...no doubt about it. Watching the greens consume Stafford again on the radar, but from the north east this time, shows it.
  3. There's interesting weather on he warm side of the system too!
  4. Still got this snizzle here. Not really doing anything except dampening the areas where the snow as been cleared. But what a morning. Still not near the levels of 3 years ago in my location, but still really good. 3 inches up here in Gornal I reckon as an estimate. I don't see the precipitation coming back at us now...but what does it matter? Such such relief to finally get a couple of decent snowfalls in this winter. I hope those places experiencing rain south and east of London get to join in next month. Maybe their biggest prize is saving itself up for them and they'll end up shaming us all 1987 style!
  5. Looks like we’re done here, but a really good snowfall. We’re not going to be in the prime spot but when you think that some of the forecasts and models have shown us as missing out over the past few days, then we can be very very pleased with how it’s gone. An excellent snow day!
  6. The heavy stuff has finally made it across the Birmingham New Road! Looking really good on this side of Dudley now too.
  7. Starting to get a bit heavier now. We have a good covering but I wouldn’t say a cm yet. The rate this is moving, I reckon whether you’re under the pivot or not it’s going to be good. What time is it forecasted to start up in the arctic north of the region? (I.e. Stoke)
  8. I am home today. It should start pepping up soon, but have you noticed how slowly it’s progressing now?
  9. Snow has gone very light here now. The real heavy stuff is right on our doorstep but taking it’s time to come over. I think it might be starting to put the brakes on.
  10. Coming down really well and sticking with no problem. I think it will push through here giving us a nice covering as it does so. But yeah, whoever ends up under that pivot is in for something special. My money is on Leicester.
  11. I don’t think it’s going to be tomorrow either. Latest MO forecast dries us out completely now. At least we’re lucky enough not to be sitting on zero snow this winter. If we can’t have it tomorrow, let’s hope it goes to someone who hasn’t seen much yet.
  12. We missed out on the heavy stuff literally by a mile, hence why nothing has settled here. Just damp out there now with some little patches of last night's snow left. Ah well, nice little surprise. On to tomorrow...looks risky at the moment though.
  13. Snowing here now. Mostly light but a few moderate bursts. Not settling and if anything, helping to wash away the leftover snow from last night.
  14. Thought it looked black over your way. Think we've actually got some growing of our own in the area. Still bright sunshine here.
  15. Well they've made further progress than the last batch, halfway across Shropshire. They can die very very quickly so won't be convinced until I see the snow falling.
  16. Very very light flurry here right now. In fact, even flurry is probably a bit of an exaggeration. But definetly a few flakes floating around.
  17. Nah...stand down. Those showers are very quickly losing their yellows and greens as they enter Shropshire on the radar. Could you guys out there move your snow shield out of the way please?
  18. Yeah, we need a bit more northerly to the flow to get in on any real fun. They need to come at us from Staffordshire, not Shropshire. (Sorry Shrewsbury!)
  19. That it is, the wind has shifted in our favour. But it is showing signs of weakening...but I think at the very least a few flurries will make the journey. It's already getting overcast here as the remains of previous showers drift over.
  20. You'd be good for snow. Temperatures and dew points should be fine today. The thaw will just be the sun on what was...lets be honest...just a wet sloppy covering of snow.
  21. Looking like today will be mostly dry...and the MO forecast is 40% chance of snow showers. Which I reckon is a fair assessment. But... Looking at the precipitation near Oswestry, it's actually making a better job of holding together and is heading this way. It's got the whole of Shropshire to traverse first...which isn't easy either by car or by north-westerly wind!
  22. Going to miss us to the north of here this morning. But looks like it’s going to be an excellent start to the weekend for Staffordshire. Enjoy!
  23. We certainly don’t seem to have as much on the ground here as other places. Maybe just about a cm, probably less. Like the other night, it’s a very sloppy covering so it won’t last long. But a real surprise anyway.
  24. Starting to stick on cars and roofs here. Massive flakes too.
