  1. hello, just had a text from a friend up in shap on route to eskdalemuir - he says he just hit a blizzard...? fingers crossed for m21 seeing a bit more action over the next few days then...promising so far...
  2. no snow ere that Ive noticed, but cloud rolling in and darkening skies looks more like rain...was rain ere earlier....think its dropping in temp now - had to put the heating on, so it must be getting nippier!
  3. nope. very light drizzle ere. transformers new fillum quite good tho, so far....
  4. looking at the way the radar on bbc runs up we're in a 30-40 mile 'finger' of rain/sleet - so not much for us except slodge really; unless this closes we're only going to see rain/sleet as the fronts dont seem to want to do much apart from dance around eachother over the top of us. Leeds to Hx postcodes seem to get ppn as snow , and west of us same. Not expecting owt now, so if anything arrives by morning it'll be a bonus. given up lp watch for now; beans on toast, tea and transformers for me an the kids now methinks.
  5. well, weirdly, the wind seems to have warmed up here...just been out and i think the deioniser blows out cooler air than I just felt outside. not much falling now at all. SOB!
  6. catcam looks splattered too. might have to do the pub lunch with the kids tomorrow then. hope the buses are running - i love that little journey.
  7. bah humbug rain here!! hey ho, we had lots last week, so I guess I shouldn't be greedy about it...temp seems to have dropped and then risen a bit here too so I wont be surprised if it stays as rain/sleet. Hoping for next week to produce more snow. Kids back at school so I can play out in it in peace
  8. yep, clouding over nicely but looks more like incoming liquids than solids from ere in m21. i have a good long view southwards from ere too, sooo.....fingers crossed...
  9. oops sorry chap not very agile with this computer thing...the reply quote thing went a tad awry there...back to the tutorial board again lol
  10. I told my wife she was imagining it - it was frost! Seriously though looking at the latest 06z GFS I cant see any snow in this area until possibly this time next week. Obviously a lot can change before then. hey Bartlett, i was out with my hens when it was falling, an frost sure dont fall like dat! I'm over by the water park, next to the river, if this makes any odds, was very light but it certainly made it's way down the back of my dressing gown while I were feedin the girls and getting my eggs for breakfast lol. thought I was imagining it too - sleepy eyes an all that - til I got out there...it was about 6.30 this morning. didnt look again for a couple of hours after that, which was when I noticed it had settled a bit... Agog with the prospect of more snow here - the kids are now sick of it... 'because there's no such thing as a Bartlett High...
  11. m21 had a light dusting of grains and powder this morning - lovely surprise! I'd consider the salopettes for the kids not to be a waste of money now then :-) got fingers (and toes eyes and everything else!) crossed that we're cold enough to get the dumping everyone's on about...if this little lot stuck then surely the rest should follow..?
  12. mornin all, ice floes here in m21 are melting/dissolving, rain with a little bit of sleet in, not a lot though...are we due for more of the white stuff then you reckon? looks a bit tricky - don't know the dew point for here but obviously well up on previous days. I for one would be overjoyed to be seeing snow again, though I know I'm in the minority in my street, having been out shifting ice from peoples paths etc, the roads are like glass, my big old van can just about do it, but the dinky little cars are skating about with no traction at all. Hey ho, hope all had a lovely yule and here's to more snow in the new year if the next lot fizzles to rain..
  13. hello all, hope you all had a lovely day and the brussels sprout fallout doesnt cause any trouble - well with it being a little warmer perhaps it'd be a good idea to open the windows til it passes...? pets are always handy after the festive excesses eh? We had heavy rain during the night, but still have a load of the cold stuff left, but it's beautiful sunshine and a lovely wintry scene down on the water park. Hoping that the snow makes its way back over here for next week but since we've had such a lovely one perhaps that would be too much to ask? here's hoping though...
  14. :smiliz19: oh no its raining here now is it likely to clear much away or are there more showers to follow for s manchester?
  15. really hope it doesnt rain this away for m21 then...
  16. Aawww! this weather is just lovely!!! My delightful son has his birthday tomorrow, and is over the moon that he's got snow for it. Hopefully the scallies robbing everyone will go indoors now? (12 burglaries this week). Another reason to love the snow - it's safer stuff than you realise!! It started as sleety rain earlier - we were aghast at the thought of losing our lovely white blanket. However it picked up into snow fairly quickly - 20 minutes or so - so my son's chuffed to bits. There are proper big fat flakes falling at a decent rate - cars covered again, all the frozen surfaces now have a degree of traction again (thank heavens) and it's a beautiful sight. Unless you're my cat. Dustbin day tomorrow - any excuse to get out there...
  17. It's a moderate rate of snowfall here, the rain washed it all away last night so this is a delightful surprise. The hens and one of the cats are unimpressed, but the other one went ballistic! My lovely boy is out making snow sculptures - it's the decent building stuff here. here's hoping it sticks for a few days!
  18. Hi all, here in chorltleton we had a lovely snowfall ...er, in my garden...???!! 2.3cm fell out there, much to the puzzlement of my chickens, who'd never even seen sky til june this year. They aint impressed, unsurprisingly, but heck, my kids sure are. ish. til they' ve been out in it for ten minutes without their gloves. dur. So we had a wander down to the water park and it was..well, not as deep there...? UM. puzzled. measured on paving in garden and paving down there, so not an issue with choosing the wrong surface, but there was less lying snow on the fields than in the garden while it was falling, with light wind, beautiful, joyful, wintry wonderland nonetheless. and a perfect oppo for hot chocolate and cracking the christmas gackfest open a bit early.( For the energy, y'know :-D) Anyway, what I'd be pleased to know is whether there will be snow here in M21 on Xmas eve - it's my eldest boy's birthday and so what a cracking pressie that would make hey? He's only 11 and has inherited my passion for snow, but met office data suggests rain. OH NO! SOB!
  19. 2.3cm on my garden...proper winter wonderland
  20. we're in the M21 area of manchester where 'it never snows' apparently, except for the near avalanches we had last nov and again this year ha ha! YIPPEE! 2.3cm deep in my paved garden.
  21. WEEE JUST HAD A LOAD OF SNOOOOOWWW!!!! ahem. sorry. we have had about two inches. ruler out in a sec....kid style mayhem first though..
  22. :winky: I JUST ahem, sorry, I just saw some snowflakes... YAAAYYY!!! only a couple though.bit excited. think the neighbours might be wondering what's up with all the yelling and screaming kids. All for two or three flakes.... :o
  23. woke up this morning to a reasonable covering here in M21, skidaddling all over the road but then thats half the fun eh? Mostly gone now but getting large flakes of wet snow in stops and starts. Aaah! I dont think my kids have ever been up and dressed this quickly before. Astonishing.
  24. well, second time this winter that it has snowed here - an event last seen 5 years ago - so lots of happy kids (and parents) skidding about. Not exactly adrift with the stuff - about a decent centimetre or so. Cor, it all looked sooo lovely this morning!
  25. oh scrivens its settling here!!! oh fantastic!!! and my neighbour, when I moved here recently said it NEVER snowed here. Never is a BIG word.
