  1. Just had quite a heavey shower here north of Chelmsford that has covered everything. Did not seem to be much indication on the radar that it was expected. H
  2. Here in north Chelmsford it has been light snow on and off during the day. Enough to make you look out the window but nothing to get too excited about. Just seems blooming cold and damp H
  3. Dear Senator Blue, Thanks. It is my intention to post on this thread as well. Regards H
  4. I disagree. Spent the last few weeks monitoring the progress across east anglia. Threads being posted every few seconds on occassion. Now I am expected to monitor two threads. What was happening south of the Thames has little relevance as to what affects EA as a whole. Seems that most other organisations keep Essex with this sector of the country. I suppose hard luck mate you are stuck with it. H
  5. I have been off the forum for a while. I am sure it has probably been said elsewhere but why has Essex been dumped from this thread? Essex has more natural affinity to East Anglia than it does to south of the Thames. Habsish
  6. Much the same here just north of Chelmsford with snow starting about half hour ago. H
  7. Why does the TeleWeer site show the showers going in a south easterly direction? My link
  8. Just north of Chelmsford. Couple of cms last night and now snowing again steadily. Habsish
  9. All seems to be so soft. Recall in the 50's when I went to school I had to ride my bike 8 miles there and back. One cold winter I use to take a short cut by riding on the river. Must admit I would always let someone else go first. That is where I learnt the joys of delegation. H
  10. Just had a close look at the Ladybirds. All of them are the alien Harliquin. I think the government ought to restrict there immigration and growth. H [i think the government ought to restrict there immigration and growth.
  11. A lot of ladybirds here. Seem to be looking for some where to over winter. Anyone got suggestions for a container of some sorts outside they could be encouraged to stay in? They would then be ready in the spring to come and zap the bugs. H
  12. " As for the highlighted, why are people so damn concerned about punctuation and speflling on here." Mainly for some to try and use the correctly spelt word is important and could mean consequences (possibly serious thinking of a doctor) if the wrong word is used. Seems a pity to lower your standards just because you are posting on a forum. A simple example of what a difference a letter can make. You could say "let's have a wether forecast" which actually means "let's have a castrated ram" Not a lot of difference really. H
  13. The webcams looks nice on this link My link Habsish Plenty of cams here to browse and be envious My link Habsish
  14. Is it about time to start a new thread after 96 pages? Would not want to lose this interesting topic but it could be pruned. Just a thought. Regards H
  15. Having seen the programme thought the footage was quite interesting but found the presenter a bit of an annoying pratt H
  16. Anyone noticed any benefits or problems for gardeners following the colder than average winter? I have noticed that this year my asparagus is not plagued by asparagus beetle. Well not at the moment anyway. Regards Habsish
  17. My reference to global warming was to do with the occurrence of mistletoe has only become prevalent in my area in more recent years. The only change that I can identify is warmer winters and I assume more suitable growing conditions. It also seems to grow throughout a branch from an inital point of infection with small growths spouting out along the branches length. H I beieve one of the differences with weeds is it is a parasite and gains its nourishment from the host plant and not photosynthesis. H
  18. Pitwood What does it grow on in your area? Any websites that anyone knows of where you can get further advice to control it? H Laburnham round here seems to be prime target.. Graden up the road has several trees thast just now seem to be covered in mistletoe.
  19. So some of us have in years past tried to get mistletoe to grow on a tree in their garden for a little bunch for Christmas. Usually with very little sucess. Now you find that your apple tree is plagued with the stuff. All due to global warming??? Drive round the country and look into the trees. Lime, popular, apple trees etc. now have dark clumps growing on them - mistletoe. How to get rid of it when it grows on a valued tree? Cut it out? Paint with creosote or what? No action and you have a dead tree. Probably whatever you do nobody nice will give you a lucky kiss. What to do to control this plague? H
  20. So go clear some snow away and chuck out some seed. We did that this morning and they came in droves, or should I say flocks. ...and we had 10-12" last night. Andy
  21. Steady snow falling on about 6 inches of existing snow. Temp just about freezing Birds in the garden desparate for food. H
