  1. UK Outlook for Friday 26 Dec 2008 to Sunday 4 Jan 2009: In general we can expect high pressure to dominate the weather during this period. As quite often happens in these situations in winter though, there will be a fair amount of cloud around, and under any clearer spells we can expect a mixture of mist, freezing fog and frost to form during the night-time periods and these will be slow to clear again during the following following days, perhaps persisting all day in a few spots. The temperature will become well-below average average for the time of year and there are indications of a cold easterly wind developing particularly in southern parts, and this will bring an increasing risk of some sleet or snow flurries. MO update sounds good.
  2. Clear outside now.. Had some fog to start the day but that cleared through mid-morning. Clear skies unlikely to last long, some rain and cloud will be pushing down from the North overnight tonight. How everyones okay.
  3. I think the sun is at its weakest for nearly 50 years at the moment. Sun cycle 23 has just ended and we are still waiting for sun cycle 24 to begin. The sun has been very quiet for the last couple of months with very few sunspots. Maybe this is the reason for such a cold start to winter?
  4. Had some very heavy rain here in Medway today, also had some flooding this evening when the roads and pathways turned into rivers but fortunately didnt quite reach my house. Currently windy with light rain..Something interesting towards the SW on the MO radar
  5. There is yet to be a hurricane, I said months ago that this season would be a very calm one due to the fact that there is so much high pressure in the Atlantic stopping the hurricanes from developing, Even though there are warmer sea levels the high pressure is just stopping the depressions from forming which is of course fantastic news
  6. Dan Corbett is fantastic, he is the best forecaster around. "Thats the weather......(points)......for now, he always mentions a picnic. And the funniest phrase I have ever heard from him which had me in stitches was "If your taking your granny out for a walk in the park make sure she has a blanket to keep her legs warm" Absolutely amazing man. Kaddy is also fantastic
  7.  metcheck forecast the most ridiculous things, they forecast snow for almost every area in winter when there clearly is going to be NO now
  8. The BBC forecasts are rubbish, I could pull out more accurate forecasts from my backside.
