  1. 8.2mm of rain overnight and looking very showery. 7.3º after a low of 4.8º. The dog didn't get much of a walk last night.
  2. Just missed out on an air frost last night with a minimum of 0.1º. Now 9.6º, sunny and a light breeze.
  3. Raining again, but only just started with 2.0mm since midnight. Only 4.7º though so snow on the tops?
  4. 45.4mm of rain since midnight (49.8mm since yesterday evening when it started raining) making this the wettest day since January 15th 2011. Top temperature today was 12.5º, whilst down the road in Southport where I've spent most of the day it was 17º and sunny this afternoon.
  5. Managed 45.4mm of rain since midnight and 49.8mm since it started raining yesterday evening. Wettest day since January 15th 2011.
  6. I'm always surprised at how "not cold" you are given your elevation. Last year I had two air frosts in May, 2010 I had seven....
  7. Dropped down to -2.1º here last night but now rocketing back up under a blazing Cumbrian sun to a giddy 2.6º.
  8. And there we leave it and everyone back on topic. I will have order.
  9. The last few days, according to my parents, has seen the Helm Wind blow at full strength. As I was driving into Appleby tonight, you could see evidence of this in the strange clouds breaking off from the edge of the Pennines. Either that or Will Smith is about to take on some aliens.
  10. Now I'm working from home again, I have ready-access to all my lovely records and statistics. So, in Great Asby during April... Average maximum daily temperature; 9.9º Highest daily maximum; 13.9º (30th) Lowest daily maximum; 6.8º (4th) Average daily minimum; 3.7º Highest daily minimum; 6.4º (26th) Lowest daily minimum; -4.1º (5th) No. of air frosts; five Mean monthly temperature; 6.8º (14yr average 7.9º) Total rainfall; 72.0mm Wettest day; 13.4mm (26th) No of wet days (0.2mm and above); nineteen Highest wind gust; 43mph (17th)
  11. It's not just the telly - on the Radio 4 forecasts they often miss the north west out altogether. I say often....I've heard them do it a few times recently and being the tedious little sod that I am, I actually go onto iplayer to see if I can verify this. My dad's noticed it too, so I don't think it's just my radio.
  12. Already warmer than it got yesterday, and whilst still breezy, at least the driving sleet has gone and there's some blue sky about. Currently 9.5º and dry so far.
  13. Only -1.0º here last night, giving the 5th air frost of the month. Crystal clear blue sky right now though, but still only 1.2º.
  14. Another air frost; the 4th this month, with it dropping to -1.4º earlier. Now bright sunshine and 2.6º with a very chilly breeze.
  15. A red squirrel visiting the bird table constantly before running back into the hedge.
  16. Venus is next to the Pleiades tonight, so I nipped out, caught a break in the clouds and then thought I'd try with the cloud coming back over. Quite pleased with both of them!
  17. Is there any key to go along with that map PP? Yellow could merely show double the background radiation, and double of nothing much is still nothing much.....see what I mean? Looks very impressive and scary but without a key, it's pretty meaningless.
  18. 2.2º and snowing moderately here. Not settling in town, but my dad says it's starting to accumulate on his grass. He's about 800ft though.
  19. 8.8º here at the moment after a low of 5.0º. I'm expecting a rapid drop overnight?
  20. I see that employees of Netweather aren't allowed to enter, so start paying me or I'll enter.
  21. 7.9º and clear blue skies after a nighttime low of -1.0º giving the 42nd air frost since the autumn.
  22. Looks like the majority of my tadpoles have hatched out over the past couple of days, and are now clinging to the jelly-stuff. Wonder when they'll start swimming about?
  23. I'd have to check if this was my record but 22.2º today's going to take some beating.
