1. Top post there, absolutely bang on the dot. Well If it ends up way with the big 3 gone, maybe we should all complain to the BBC whenever one of the others come on screen and make just even the slightest mishap? Ok maybe not but seriously this is a ridiculous decision and this error of judgement is certainly getting some attention out there so us guy's n gals best keep it going. As an aside, did anybody watch the BBC news 24 forecast at 7.27pm this evening, where Rob Mc appeared to quote 'us three' at the start of his own broadcast! I believe he was referring to the three guys in the studio with regards to getting a chocolate tasting job but maybe not? This is an interesting thread and the very folks involved, may even be reading our input, so we best bear that in mind too. All the varied views on this, certainly prove the passion we have for our country and its forecasters etc. Cheers STORMBOY
2. My thoughts exactly. Well put there WE. I need to read the rest of this thread now but that is 3 of the best, surely? They are getting more like ITV or even Channel 5 now, yuk! No more said. STORMBOY
3. I love his style of presenting. His forecasts seem to clearly indicate the main type of weather expected for the day in question. For example, he never overeggs whether you will or will not get wet at the bus-stop etc. Having listened to his forecasts (Rob's) I never leave the house with any doubt as to what can be expected for the day, i.e. there is no waffling. I believe he's up there with some of the best forecasters including NW's Mr. Fish. As for the ladies, Helen Willets is very good and I do like that Laura Tobin, mmmmm. Let's hope that sense prevails and he is kept on the BBC, or as someone else said, join netweather. Cheers STORMBOY
4. That's very kind of you OON, I can also be a real stargazer as well now. Cheers STORMBOY
5. That chart is amazing. Is it/could it be made available every day on here or some other place. Just a thought. You guys know your stuff, keep it up. STORMBOY
6. I just love that image of frozen Britain, I had already put a copy of it on my website! What date does the image relate to, I assume it was 6th January 2010, does anybody know? Cheers STORMBOY
7. That's an impressive storm. If they are straight-line winds then they are certainly very strong but other than that I cannot comment, will leave that to an expert! Kind Regards STORMBOY
8. Good ole Roger Brugge, I often look at his weather summaries etc. A minimum of only 4c here today but that's my coldest for a long time. STORMBOY Newbury Berkshire
9. Hi Andy, I only received 9.8mm from the CF and I'm not exactly a long way from your location and I also did not hear Thunder even with the window ajar overnight. Cheers Stormboy
10. and then you and all of us in the 'no storms club' woke up Here's hoping, well I have heard two or or is it three rumble days this year! Cheers STORMBOY Newbury, Berkshire
11. maybe something good will come from it for some lucky folks before the chill down but methinks the hot stuff will return sooner than most think, just gut feeling! 24.8c today here in Newbury and 24.1c yesterday so the 2 hottest days of the year. Cheers STORMBOY
12. Hi there, Interestingly the latest NW radar shows something "kicking off" in the south-west approaches or is it anaprop? Either way it could be still yet be interesting tomorrow even the model outputs don't suggest much. Cheers STORMBOY
13. Hello, Anybody who uses the Weather Undergound website should be interested to note many useful features on the Wundermap. Satellite pics, Storm Tracks etc. I'm off to play about with it. Okay, the link I'm providing shows my Weather Station but you can zoom anywhere you like. Looks useful, any thoughts? STORMBOY
14. Hello again. Stephen, as suggested it is very much dependant upon your specific location and according to my Davis, at home we actually had 11 Air Frosts in March alone. So, when the Beeb or whoever put up some data such as 'Snowdrops flowering two weeks later than normal' etc. where do they get their facts from and what part of the u.k. is the headline grabber relating to, for example. With temperatures in mind, Phenological events having been behind in my neck of the woods was certainly due to the fact that we achieved 94 consecutive days with sub 10 celcius temperatures which indeed is absolutely stunning in my lifetime. As ever, I love the thrill of this Phenology malarkey. Spring Cheers STORMBOY
15. Ahhh, spring in terms of flowers n the trees blooming, things sure are well behind in my neck of the woods however.... Birds wise, I've already seen loads of Wheatears, some Sand Martin, Swallows etc. and reports nationwide in the last couple of days have included... Ospreys, Stone Curlews, Willow Warblers, Cuckoos, Redstarts, Pied Flycatcher, Hobbies, some of which are if anything, ahead of schedule. Phenology is so interesting, so reliant on the weather and never ceases to amaze. Kind Regards STORMBOY
16. Hello, Hoping this one hasn't come up on this thread recently and whilst some people will not appreciate the comment at the very end of this video, I still think it is a classic and probably contains precisely what would have been my reaction. <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true">Hoping the link works. Try this also. and there is a longer version but it's not to everyone's taste, http://www.youtube.c...h?v=zwfLxCj-NB0 Cheers STORMBOY
17. Hi, Can't PM you as there's a message saying 'member not accepting messages' or something along those lines. Please can you add me but i'll probably have to put me on top of Polar Bear but i'm hoping she doesn't mind? Cheers STORMBOY ps! incidentally I notice your Google map link doesn't contain the same members as in the inserted 2009 map?
18. Pit, how many consecutive days was it at your location without a 10c temperature in the end. For me, it ended up 94 days as yesterday reached 12.2c. Happy Days STORMBOY
19. Indeed. But hoping not to be a harbinger of doom, flooding could well become a very serious problem alongside the added complication, the high tides will undoubtably cause. I'm to believe it will be the extreme southeast where the layout of the land and sea could well cause a rising of the tides even further but then again I'm no expert so I'm guessing. Here's hoping we have some action to savour, but with no loss of life. STORMBOY
20. Hi Slb, I love Hayling Island for it's birdwatching but I would not want to be there tonight and tomorrow. Hope Nanny stays safe. Will surely be an unusual storm synoptically and I hope this thread keeps us glued to our screens with the posts coming thick and fast. Take Care STORMBOY
21. December 9th was my last DD temperature, when recording 11.4c at precisely 13:56 that very day, oh how I love my Davis. Also of note this February, is how the wind direction has been consistently from the ENE or NE in my neck of the woods for 21 out of the 27 days so far. Amazing stuff. Kind Regards STORMBOY
22. Hello peeps. If you're following this horrible event, you can follow it all day long on CNN but it doesn't make for pleasant listening I can assure you? A Tsunami appears to be REAL threat. STORMBOY
