  1. Hello Lewis, Thanks for the kind comments. My post count says 8 or something so perhaps I'm not such a lurker as I thought. I sure learn loads in this place and it is such a friendly place as you say. Heres hoping for an interesting night ahead. Stormy Cheers Stormboy
  2. Hello again PB. Yes, i have some equipment ermmmm.. sorry i've had a drink! Anyway, indeed there are a fair few weather stations shown on the web around our area. Go checkout wunderground.com. As for the guy you mention in Thatcham, I actually know him, his name is Steve Kelly. Enjoy the wild weather and stay safe. Now 12mm here @ 21:22 and 990.7 hpa. Take Care Stormboy
  3. Hello Guys n Gals and hello Polar Bear, I see another Newburian is in the place As normally I'm a lurker on here, I've come out of the closet. I greatly appreciate all the news you guys n gals are putting out. It's interesting tracking the progress of the front so keep the info coming, particularly those maps are of real use. My Davis is picking up all the details minute by minute and I've had some interesting pressure rises and falls in the last hour. Top gust only 21m.p.h so far. This is my first post so please be gentle. . Stormboy Newbury, Berkshire 11.2mm @ 20.45 from 00:00GMT Its gonna be a long night
  4. Hi Osbourne, I had and still have the exact same problem as you. Sometimes it can last a day or two without getting the error and then other times it happens several times a day. I actually rang Davis in the usa regarding this and they kindly sent me an insulator type thingie (slips over cable with magnets either side) free of charge in the post. The other advise they gave me at the time was to download the latest software version and/or switch to battery power only. I still tend to leave it plugged into the mains and continue to get the error. Let me know if you do ever solve this issue as it seems Davis cannot. Kind Regards Tony
  5. Hi all, Thanks for the many responses to my question ref: buying a Weather Station. Well as you have guessed from the Header I have purchased a Davis Vantage Pro 2. As of the 26th September, I have entered the world of downloading and constant streaming of data to my pc. The next step is to get it setup on the web and I would like to be added to the Netweather Weather Stations map if at all possible. Kind Regards STORMBOY
  6. Hi BU, Thanks for the response. I've since purchased the Davis WeatherLink Data Logger and it's just done it's 12am backup pretty much as I type. I set it up and running at 4.30pm on the 26th and the Weather Live bit is next. It's all impressive stuff and I'm now in the real world of downloading and streaming data, yipee. Cheers Stormboy
  7. Hi, I've recently dived in at the deep end and purchased a Wireless Davis Vantage Pro 2 which I am very impressed with. However, I did not purchase the Data Logger software that comes with it for downloading data to a pc. Do I need this software as the manual suggests I do? I have recently purchased Weather Display 32 and Weather Live thinking that would work independently without the WeatherLink logger software. Also, the only connection I can see to make a direct link with my pc is the serial type slot called Expansion. I'm confused, can someone assist me. Many Thanks Tony
  8. Cheers Guys and Gals. I like the idea of this logger software. Accuracy is important to me but not to a Met Office standard and the main thing is that I want he equipment that goes with it Kinda like the following. An accurate rain gauge, an anenometer, Max & Min Temps and DP's. History of events is also important. At the moment I take manual readings off an Oregon BAR628 and rain measurements for a plastic 50mm capacity garden centre type funnel. Keep them coming. Many Thanks. STORMBOY
  9. Hi, I've always been a lurker on here up to now so have never posted to the forum, I hope this hits the right area. Basically I've been interested in metereology for a few years now but now I feel the need to get a proper Weather Station setup. I need my setup to record accurately on my 2nd PC and have it show the basics, wind strength and direction, rainfall amount and duration, temperature etc. I've got a cheapish Oregon type sensor already and a manual plastic rain gauge but thats about all. I don't want to outlay too much but I gather I could need £500ish all told so I could scrape to that. Any advices welcomed and any links that I can visit would be most helpful. Many Thanks Tony AKA STORMBOY
