That's incredible given our relative proximity. Just illustrates how forecasting can never be an exact science! We've got virtually wall to wall clag here! Although brightened up a touch in last ten mins. Some patches of blue starting to form.My view to the SW, can see the showers in Wales. Really warm too.

Incredible that a distance of say twenty miles can have a contrast like it does. I'm sat outside and just put a jumper on! Seriously! temp has really dropped under cloud here. Wonder if it's because we are closer to the Clwydian hills? Stuff always seems to get killed by them when coming up from Wales. They are (annoyingly) forming due to the hills and are tracking directly north, unlike the epic stuff to our east that is heading NNE. Think I'm in for a dry and settled evening, althoughWarm and muggy.

Damn. It's gone a fair bit darker here now. Sun poked through for ten minutes half hour ago but there's just not been enough heat.unlikely, those cells seem to be stabilizing as they reach here.
-
Those cells in mid Wales seem to be on a decent track for us if they can keep going. Chances?

Thoroughly dismal day here today. Zero sunshine, 100 cloud dross and no heat. Don't think we've topped 20c.typical Cheshire "storm weather" in fact. All a bit soul destroying but hey ho.

Todays turned into an absolutely putrid day more reminiscent of early November than July. No sun so far, light rain before and now we don't even have that! Just a constant grey layer of murk that is keeping temps down and killing off any chance of any activity. Currently only nudging 18c.

had a few rumbles and mid-distant flashes here last night.Seemed fairly high level stuff. I think everything decent swept east of us towards Manchester. Stuck with the usual Cheshire dross of cloudy dull skys and light rain now. Can't imagine anything starting up later tbh because there's not enough heat around. Good luck to everyone else :-)
-
Wish this overcast dross would shift itself. Getting the worst of both worlds atm! Hopefully we might see some action tomorrow. But not hopeful on past form.
-
Starting to see some gaps in the cloud cover now. Fingers crossed

I reckon estofex' forecast for tomorrow might be pretty interesting, possibly a level 2 of a lot of England? It's been sunny and hot here until about 30 mins ago before the cloud has filled in. It's going to feel so muggy!
It is starting to feel more humid here but don't think there's a lot of surface heating going to happen here unless this cloud cover breaks soon.

Thunderstorm at 8am followed by near-total sunshine since then.
I must be living in some parallel universe, unless the southern Wirral area is being cursed.
Trust me, I saw the storms you experienced on the radar in a narrow line stretching up NW from Liverpool. We did not get even a sniff of them here! Just fairly overcast here atm
-
The usual snooze-fest non-event this area unfortunately. Nowhere near enough heat and far too much cloud to allow anything to kick off.
-
Wonder if it will get this far north? What direction is this system moving in (can't access radar atm)
-
Just had activity here about 45 mins ago, including the biggest overhead clap of thunder and CG I think I've seen in years here. Seems on FB half the town heard it and jumped!!

Feeling a lot warmer and more humid out there today. Just need a few more select ingredients!!
-
Brightened up here (slightly) but overall, it has to be said, an unremittingly dull, horrible day. No sign of skies clearing either.

All gone very quiet and benign here now. Hoping this thick layer of cloud gets cleared and we can build a bit of heat...otherwise it's going to be a rather drab day for the first weekend of June!
-
Had a couple of distant rumbles but think that may be our "storm" for today. Just not enough heat around to get anything special going. Currently just moderate rain and a uniform grey sky. Not really June weather.
-
Humid here but far too much cloud I fear to allow anything to generate. We'll see!
-
Guys. I'm out of here. Best storm in about 15 years here last evening/ night
-
I'm out of the NSC after last nights fun and games!

You might Get Lucky tonight though, plenty of time left and especially further west, these storms could well linger on through much of the night Don't give up!
Nope. Cooling off rapidly here now and lots of cloud cover. Probably the best chance in 10-15 years for us here and still nothing. The Cheshire Storm Shield never fails. Not being pessimistic, that's just how things run around here.

and sleeeeeeeeeep zzzzzzzzz
regular Cheshire/ Merseyside non-event. Enjoy your storms Wales.....
No storms, hate storms - post your storm related moans and groans here.

Usua storm shield was in effect here last night. We had a spell of moderate to heavy rain for a staggering 15 minutes and that was it. Even by our usual dull standards this summer has been incredibly dull here
