  1. Yes, it should be a reasonable start to the day before the tea time frolics start. Bit of a nip in the air just before sunrise, just how it should feel now we're in November. A calm start....won't stay that way.
  2. Yes, temperatures if anything will near towards the normal/average as we go to the end of this week, but because we've had a pretty decent warm summer and up to now mild autumn it will feel like a subtle shock to the system if your facing head-on into a straight westerly gale with cooler rain smacking into you. Proper autumnal feel. Starting with some rain tonight.
  3. Very dark skies this morning, with the rain falling & the day before the nations time pieces are spun back an hour. It's bleak out there but at least it's 'you know what'...rhymes with child.
  4. Not one rain symbol on both met & BBC weather apps for this afternoon..... ....lashing it down currently. Yes chocolate fireguard usefulness.
  5. Having a nice little bike ride in the last week of October without a coat & waterproofs doesn't quite feel the norm but I'll take it for now. I'm sure the cold winds & rain will return with a vengeance before too long.
  6. Wow it's all kicking off in the South East right now...listening to commentary of Tot V New match and thunderstorms a plenty esp around the capital. Seems to be if you want a decent lightning show that's the direction to head....if you want snow you need to head to Greenland. Ain't notin' happ'n ere!
  7. The North West region was one stop too far for the tired rain band and it's been mostly bashed on the head in our region...looks torrential in the midlands and south east though.
  8. First signs of rain in the air, quite a morning washout showing on the radar if it all lines up on it's current trajectory. We'll probably miss the exciting thundery stuff the south always seems to get but I'm sure we won't be left short of the wet stuff.
  9. Mostly dry and unseasonable mild today with a keen breeze...but clouds are now gathering to the South and I expect we'll see some rain in the region to see out the day...will the clouds clear into the early hours of tomorrow for a chance to spot the Orionid meteor showers? When to see the Orionid meteor shower in Greater Manchester as spectacular display peaks TONIGHT - Manchester Evening News WWW.MANCHESTEREVENINGNEWS.CO.UK Mancunians might be able to spot the Orionid meteor shower over this weekend
  10. Well the persistent heavier rain has now pushed further west and it's quite a bleak early afternoon here now. I hope snow follows a similar trajectory with any opportunities coming from the south east this coming winter. I won't hold my breath.
  11. Yep got a few cracks of thunder here, just managing to scrape this narrow band of fast developing activity running up the pennines...Saddleworth areas probably getting a good soaking now.
  12. Easterly winds always seem to pack a punch here more so than if it were the equivalent from the west. https://www.xcweather.co.uk/m/GB/Map/Wind doesn't make much of it but it sure is gusty facing into it. Tomorrow's on a knife edge here for a cloudy with only occasional spots of rain to an absolute write off. The latest BBC forecast was non the wiser how far east the rain will get
  13. Strong gusty winds this morning coming from the east due to low pressure to the South West. Usually keeps most of the activity out to the west but the calm sunny skies of the past two days now put to bed...but "at least it will be mild"
  14. Nice clear air mass, quite cool early on but sunny. A very useable day ahead with the rain arriving overnight! Someone's on our side this Sunday.
  15. No fog here this morning, struggle to get even that these days. Although can't grumble with my day off work and sunny skies from the word go. Steam rising off the garden fences as the sun got to work. Managed to get a decent cycle ride in. Cut-off low to the south west maybe delivering a late burst of autumn warmth from the south late next week?....screaming northerly after that. If only.
  16. A bit non-descript today's weather. Early brightness has now succumbed to a grey dullness with not a great deal of warmth on offer. Mind you I did manage to carry out the last cut of grass (fingers crossed) while it's been dry, just before rain signals the end of a dreary Sunday.
  17. A brief spell of heavy rain they said, that would pass through quickly....3 hrs later still heavy rain...and it sure as hell didn't pass through quickly ....outside at work...not pleasant
  18. Yep had a rumble of thunder 30 mins ago and torrential downpour after a very wet day earlier on. Seems like a distant memory when the ground was rock-hard dry during the high summer, definately turned a corner now. Feels like rainy season... hope it transitions to snowy season come late December.
  19. Looks like a westerly pattern is going to get going this week and maybe for the foreseeable, with only temporary ridges. Yep goodbye summer 22 you did quite well...autumn has now taken to the front stage.
  20. Misty early doors before the sun managed to raise its lazy head...acts like an hormonal teenager now taking longer & longer to get up from its overnight slumber. Ground surfaces (esp the grass I need to cut) staying wetter for longer...might be entering a soggy phase.
  21. Aye a little posse of showers just had an energy boost off the Irish Sea - rain here now. Met office scrambling to update their app from mostly dry to now heavy showers for an hour. Good real time update there, but not much use if you were planning ahead a few hours ago.
  22. Nice wet day yesterday, should top up the local Ressie's. Showers making more of a bee-line for my locality with a more direct westerly influence. Less Cheshire gap, more M62 corridor.
  23. Dodged the North Westerly showers today, there needs to be slight westerly element in them to lay siege to parts east of Mcr. Still feeling cool in the shade and wind. Friday not looking like a day for outdoor activities.
  24. Cheshire gap getting some showers in a bit...would be a little jealous if it was snow, alas just cold rain. Should be a mostly bright but cooler feeling day with a gusty north/north westerly in action. Some showers might break out in more inland areas later. Heating on for that 1hr earlier just to take the nip out of the early morning rise.
  25. Escaped the rain today so far, but it's knocking on the door now. It will probably set in to see out the rest of daylight hours. Chilly feeling into next week, nothing too drastic but it will surprise those hanging onto late summer.
