  1. An adjoining (Labour) council where one of my friends lives has run out of grit. It does, however, feel it necessary to employ its very own Climate Change Officer on a salary not unadjacent to 30k plus all the other LA perks. I wonder what he did to earn his crust today, with the roads being all but impassable? He certainly wouldn't have been able to indulge in his usual activity of visting the schools in the district and brainwashing the children. Probably "worked" from home.
  2. Nice to see a level-headed contribution to the global-warming frenzy. Just to confirm, as RJS opines "I think that point has already been passed." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthnews/6932602/Restaurants-and-takeaways-to-provide-health-warnings-on-menus.html It's all our fault again, this time, for EATING THE WRONG FOOD. Included is a picture of Hilary Benn, just to make sure. That threat to "revolutionise farming" is one not to be taken lightly. Just to recap. Any weather event at all is caused by global-warming. Anything that we do that gives us the slightest enjoyment causes global-warming. That's right isn't it?
  3. A nasty and horrid man writes: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/christopherbooker/6924898/The-Met-Office-gives-us-the-warmist-weather.html I particularly like Daniel's comment @08.22pm 02/01/2010!
  4. The selective use of data and the manipulation of same, IMO. ie: if the results show warming it's due to man's behaviour. If the results show cooling it's nothing to do with man. I also find the condescending manner of the argument quite insulting. IMO.
  5. I'd guess quite a few people would laugh at the preposterous nature of this article. Talk about having your cake and eating it! There's still doubt about the "scientific consensus" besides all the rest of it. Looks like more desperation is creeping in.
  6. If there's no wiggle room left, we may as well enjoy the winter weather we're experiencing this er, winter.
  7. "a spendlid demonstration in the sheer perversity of our specie to live in a bubble of self-imposed illusions." Do you mean AGW? At least Gordon's spreading his scorched-earth policy overseas now: http://www.taxpayersalliance.com/research/2009/12/new-research-the-economic-cost-of-a-42-per-cent-reduction-in-carbon-dioxide-emissions-by-2020.html He doesn't care how disastrous our economy becomes if he can desperately garner a bit of populism out of it.
  8. " almost certainly the warmest for the last 1000 years, probably at least 2000 years." Only 2000 years? Why stop guessing there?
  9. I'll be glad when this non-event drops out of the news agenda. If I have to listen to ignoramus Prescott babble on about "when we did Kyoto" one more time I may well become extremely violent. You'd think he'd have a secretary to molest at this time of year.
  10. Excellent. Ended as it started. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article6962344.ece Waste of time and ENERGY but served its purpose as a useful political diversion. Just like the others.
  11. Looks like Jonah Brown's influence is being felt almost instantly: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/dec/16/connie-hedegaard-copenhagen-resigns Yup, he's there alright: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8415307.stm
  12. "More constructive posts please mate and less of your own political comments. please?" Of course, the pro AGW posts are always politics-free.
  13. No doubt half of the cash will line the pockets of corrupt politicians or disappear into the arms trade: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/dec/11/tax-climate-aid-brown-sarkozy Why on earth are we contributing more than anybody else, is it because Gordon thinks our economy is doing better than theirs, although we're the only ones still in recession?
  14. For Devonian: http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=39655 It's not just me who thinks he's a jinx!
  15. I'm here to try and see why some people are so sure about global-warming theories because I'm not convinced. As for the politics element - this government (in particular) seem to be a bunch of tax-grabbing control freaks who are desperate for any excuse to frighten us and justify further taxation. Brown just seems to be a jinx on everythging he touches. So the answer is political AND scientific.
  16. "So, you're here for political reasons not scientific?" I didn't know I needed a reason. I thought it was a public forum where anyone could join in.
  17. Exceeding expectations already: http://www.guardian....ray-danish-text Disarray. I like the sound of that. It should be borne in mind that Jonah Brown went to great lengths to convince all & sundry that Copenhagen was of monumental and far-reaching importance. I guess its' fate was sealed there and then.
  18. @noggin: Yes, the hardcore left. http://www.spectator.co.uk/coffeehouse/5601393/what-happens-when-you-try-to-debate-climate-change.thtml Apparently, Bob Ward is a climate change/global warming advocate. More incredibly, he's involved in "communicatons". Perhaps he's trying to communicate with Neanderthals. The bit I liked most was when he told us that we should "shut up". There's nothing like humility, and neither was that.
  19. "Are you suggesting that, once the Tories return to power, the warmers will suddenly all become raving fascists?" No. "...Like they'd hand-over their data for public assessment!" No change there then.
  20. "Otoh, it's a standard mantra that 'warmers' are all leftie/commie/grenie na*is or similar nonsnese so you should be careful about what stones you cast " Perhaps that's due to the reliance on state funding and full-blown support of the BBC?
  21. I think you're probably right and it shows how indoctrinated they are.
  22. Is it a fact mow that sceptics are all on the far right? I was unaware of this development.
  23. From "Hard Rain": "I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken" That'll be the delegates then.
  24. Looks like Big Al has more pressing engagements: http://www.larouchepac.com/node/12520
