  1. Not very pleasant out there. Just been out chatting to the landscapers that next door have got in for their new patio. He's complaining about the cold wind. Very jealous of his digger though. He's shifted more earth in two hours than me and my shovel can do in a weekend.
  2. Rain isn't far away, but it's been making slow progress towards us. Managed a bonus couple of hours in the garden, that I didn't think I'd get today.
  3. Beautiful now. Plenty of Sunshine. Got the Gladioli bulbs in today, in the first of the new raised beds. Must be about 45 of them. 🪻
  4. Clouds have been pepping up over the last hour and it's now raining. Just watched several Buzzards, a Red Kite, possibly a Marsh Harrier and Hobby all riding the same thermal. Sat under the sail having lunch, but it's pretty chilly. Patches of blue sky to the North West.
  5. jy That's interesting, thanks. It's about 1100m2, between me and my neighbour. They had some pros in last week and were shocked by the bill, so I've offered to keep mowing it; but they're insisting on paying me now. I should therefore be able to get a decent(ish) one, if it's going to pay for itself. Anyway, off to meet the team at Horatio's in a minute, to keep learning. Cheers.
  6. jy After that note, I walked to Downton and it was noticeably worse that yesterday. Depending on what comes through on Sunday, I might be back in wellies on Monday. On another subject, if I may jy... lawnmowers.... I'm sick of charging my Oregon 4 times to cut mine and next door's grass, so I'm going to go back to petrol. Am I best going with a Stihl, for quality, etc, or is that just paying through the nose? Do you have any advice please? Is it worth going self-propelled?
  7. River level at Downton... Thought it would be higher by now, but it is still rising. The fields by the Avon are stodgy, but passable in boots.
  8. On the positive side, I got home before the little squall line came over. Otherwise, not pleasant, as my wet weather gear was still damp from yesterday.
  9. Andy Bown The new bit drains really well. Most of the crocus are out now, so avoiding that bit. Just picked some daffs for the house too. So nice to see the garden springing into life again. Lovely on the patio, out of the breeze.
  10. It's decent here. Plenty of blue sky and warm. Just cut the grass for the first time this year. It had grown really long over the winter.
  11. Clearer skies out to the West by the looks of it. Lots of rain overnight. We now have a pond where I recently dug up the little patio.
  12. Much more like it this morning. Off to the Eden project in a bit to meet my best mate and his daughters.
  13. I was driving, so gave the OH a lesson on the netweather radar en route, which paid dividends. I think she finally gets it. Now watching the twinkling lights of Polruan over the water with a pint.
