I won’t see this again in my lifetime with it almost March. It’s phenomenal isn’t I did well too last night, some of the heaviest snowfall I’ve been seen and then this shower train today very impressive..
Got any predictions for our thread in regards to Thursdays/Fridays snow? ?

Fingers Crossed for today Saint....Been very much a lottery this event.
Seems we should be getting regular snow for the next few hours.

Looks like more bands/showers forming coming off the coast around Chelmsford and further north and south.

The jet has changed and stayed further south - means cold is staying for longer - snow situation for our region still not clear though, could mean main precip stays a bit further South and fizzles on Friday. One to watch. Never known charts to change mind so radically in a short space of time
Yes, at the moment it looks like the further south and west the better. However, as you said there's so much change going on it could easily be very different come tomorrow!
We've also got tonight and tomorrow's snow chances anyway first!

This becomes more of a nowcast situation. I guess it’s a case of pulling back the curtains in the morning ...........
You tease BA!

Sounds like some interesting developments with the 18z GFS in regards to the low at the end of the week!

I think they might well extend the warning. Time will tell, but the ppn is far more intense than last night.
Sno, share the love with Herts please!? ?

Snow showers on and off today, Plenty off sunshine too. Just a slight dusting
Hopefully we'll see some more overnight and then late Thurs into Fri with that low!

Light snow here, settling easily.

The frustrating thing is that all the showers so far in this spell in the daytime when they melt straight after and at night there has been nothing. Same again today.
Any shower activity expected around here in the evening and overnight?
Yes, seems we should see some more snow move westwards overnight as the wind changes direction again.

Cheers. What's the chances of getting out of going to the mother-in-laws on Saturday?
Haha! Totally depends on what the low does Friday into Saturday, which I believe still isn't totally clear.

Teits, what about north herts? Please.
Best chances for Herts will be this afternoon and then early hours of the morning tomorrow I think!

Herts County Council expecting snow showers to increase as the morning goes on, gritters going out again soon.
Hopefully we'll see showers more inland for everyone.
We've also got a real chance of more snow moving westwards overnight tonight when the winds shift again.

Without doubt... Even I am expecting to get a covering at some point which, considering my location, is a rarity!
Still a lot of surprises to come... Felt like today was a bit of a bonus considering how dry forecasts and models were for those of us north of the Thames.

Plus the amber warning starts from 2am. The wind is currently coming in from the NE, with forecasts indicating it will start swinging to a more ENE direction from about 3am, which will improve chances of a streamer: http://www.xcweather.co.uk/GB/forecast
As it stands from the latest radars, there is a good conveyor belt of ppn coming off the North Dutch coast which will be propelling our convection as we enter the early hours.Still on track as far as the Met Office warnings go, so t is another case of radar watching.
Sno, hopefully we can see showers start to push inland again soon enough.
Also, during the early hours of Wednesday it sounds like we could do alright as the winds swing towards the south? Interesting times ahead once again.

Evening all,
I come in peace from the South. Lived in Leeds for a few years but moved back last year, so I'm hoping you guys will see some decent totals tonight!
Here is a link to a live-stream of the building works of the Headingley Stadium south stand if anyone wants to see conditions in Leeds themselves during the night -
Not the greatest quality but should do the job.

I see that winds are due to shift back to more of a ENE in the next few hours so showers will starting pushing a bit further in land. We shall wait and see I suppose!

Evening all, been out since 6.
Very icy twenty minute drive back tonight, saw at least three gritters and it is feeling just as cold as you'd expect!

Yes, but most of that stuff will fizzle out the further inland it travels.
To be fair, the showers we've got down here in Herts have travelled all the way from Norwich etc, so I have some hope.

Lightest snow falling but it's easily settling on all surfaces. Absolutely bitter out.

Dan Holley's latest thoughts on tomorrow's possible snow (not including Friday). His updates earlier this week were fairly accurate for this area.
But still a lot of uncertainty, will probably be a just wait and see scenario!
