Can you post the chart please
Not at the moment, it's the wording Kold Weather used in the SE thread though. Hopefully someone will post it in there soon!

Seems that the HIRLAM 18z is sticking to its easterly ideas!

Certainly going to be an interesting 6-9hrs to come both in terms of convection and the frontal shield.
18z Hirlam is marginally less snowy over far SE but still gives widespread 10-15cms for all but Kent where totals ate more modest.
How's the 18z looking for those of us a bit further north above London? (Herts, Beds etc)

Is Herts the only county missing out? Got a cm at best! Light snow at the moment but to light to settle properly
We've got snow settling here now, looks like we're under a bit of a heavier pulse. Although the gusts are making it difficult!

Light to moderate snow at the moment that is really being blown around.
Feels very bitter in the gusts!

So is what's currently over France the ppn we are expecting tomorrow?
Yes, that's the low and it's associated PPN.

Something to note is the wind direction is still steering showers just north of east. The GFS this morning had the winds already going well SE/SSE by this point. Hard to say if it means anything at all BUT if it carries on then that may suggest the low is evolving in a different way to what the GFS was expecting which *may* be good news for us, but hard to say without look at pressure obs from France...
12 minutes ago, kold weather said:Really interesting as that is very similar to something I just noted, the steering currents are more ENE than the models were expecting at this time, suggesting the low maybe evolving slightly differently than planned at this stage.
Pray HIRLAM is right, 17cms here!
Two posts from Kold Weather that may be of interest to us in here. The second post is a reply to Chris Fawkes' tweet being posted.

ECMWF a tad further east... Nothing like the HIRLAM, but still. Possibility of a few CM's the further west you are.

Am I the only one who'd rather Thursday's & Friday's snow events don't happen? After all, why look forward to the demise of what's been a quite productive spell of easterlies?
I doubt you're alone, but out here further West these are our better chances of fairly decent snowfalls, as the winds just haven't been right for some of us.
However, I have enjoyed this Easterly myself, it's been fascinating stuff!

From Chris Fawkes on Twitter: "In reply to a few Qs, just my thoughts. I like further east extent of heavier
#snow Thursday. I think Greater London could see 5-7cm tomorrow afternoon with blizzards (2-3") given sensitive transport I wouldn't be surprised to see amber for tomorrow."- 2

Hello from the North guys!
HIRLAM has shifted everything a bit further east for tomorrow... Interesting times ahead for all of us.

While not a guarantee, it keeps us in the game, and maybe improves the outlook for us tomorrow.

Just popped into the South West thread and it seems the Hirlam has everything for tomorrow shifted a bit further east.

Hey @Sno' problem, another entertaining day so far! Any thoughts on what we could expect going into tomorrow and Friday?

Agree J, Also reading through Model thread, For the weekend not looking as mild as first suggested, Although any form of Mildness will be very short lived indeed. Cold trend still favourable...
Like most of the week it seems that tomorrow and Friday will be now cast situations, but hopefully our south-western position in the region will help.

Thanks.
I just need one more day- even a few hours of heavy snow will do. Then i can handle it geting milder over the weekend
Friday may be the best bet with it being heavy PPN.

So is that it for snow in our region now. It seems Thursday and Friday's potential have been downgraded.
Still some uncertainty so the further south and west the better, so you may still do pretty well tomorrow into Friday.

Looks like the radar is drying up now - moisture feed being cut off, and we will be having a very cold night! It's been fun here for the 5cm or however much we got. Another 3 days of fun and games.
Also, is it just me who thinks it doesn't really feel that cold? Doesn't feel anything like the -10 windchill they have been talking about.I think it feels absolutely freezing out! I stepped out the door and was caught by a few gusts and was surprised by how cold it felt.
