I think mid to high level as it is clearly overlying the showers (tC would say as opposed to Cb) so not so sure. I agree though, they are a bit lumpy but are clearly by their orientation linked to the low rather than the N Sea streamers. Altocumulus perhaps? We have had low level stratocumulus clouds all day here with no sun so structure of sky (other than bits of scud) impossible to discern. Hope you're right about the streamers: my daughter has sledge fever!

Been a bit 'close but no cigar' today. I thought we were good to go last night when the snow lay but then the temperature rose, the rain came back and it all melted.... Today has just been snowy spits in the wind in the main, with a few heavier bits with some graupel lying on the floor for 20 mins, then it all melts away again. No sledging on Westwood today!

OK, it may be nothing but the humidity has dropped to 98%: this is the lowest for a couple of days. The temp has also gone down to 3.3°C so very small steps but maybe the first tiny hints of the air mass change. DP now 3.3°C. I'm getting excited over changes of 1% - I really do need to get a life.....

My mother used to use this as a weather sign. She always said that when the snow melted rapidly and all went away, there wouldn't be any more, however, if bits hung about here and there, there would be more snow. This was after the 62 winter. Anyway, treasure that little white blob and give it a socially-distanced cuddle. It has done its job and soon will be joined by lots of new friends. :-)

Not been the greatest year planes-wise either...... Still, there's always the weather and it's nothing if not interesting at the moment! The model watching has been phenomenal this week as has the associated emotional breakdowns. The Lincs Wolds have gone green on the radar during the last hour as well so everything going the right way, just veeeeery slooooowly.

Still dropping temp steadily and is now 3.9°C but the humidity is still 99% so no dramatic change here: this is what we should be looking at along the coast for the change and then the snow should follow soon afterwards as the temperature drops. Not too wet here and has been 'spits in the wind' for an hour or two and only 5.0mm here so far, although everything is saturated. The clay soil in my garden has water sitting on the surface, which does not bode well for any rainfall, especially as we are in a pump-drained catchment here. People focussing on river flooding in the Hull Valley should really focus on surface water flooding: the lessons of June 25th 2007 have still not been fully learned.

Temp falling (along with the rain) here from 06:00 this morning when it was 5.7°C to 4.2°C now. No point in reporting the Dew as it's been at 100% and 99% sine midnight Thursday. I am looking for this to drop first, then the temperature, as the air mass changes. Been a poor winter for snow here but it's looking good for this week. The kids can't wait.....been a few years since they have been sledging! However, everyone from here and Hull descends on Westwood in such situations so likely a spike in Covid cases to follow....
