  1. Yep, I know the reason(s), it's just the frustration... I have known fantastic snowfalls from south-easterlies and I naturally expect, when they occur in January, to get a dumping. This is not happening anymore... I guess we all know why, but it's still very disappointing as we don't get them every year and, when we do, you expect delivery, but it never quite manages it these days.
  2. We don't seem to get the surprise snowfalls we used to and easterlies don't seem to deliver either. Three times we have had easterlies (not strong) this winter and all we have had is sleet. It's like being back in Edinburgh..... When I was there it was always the East Coast that was getting plastered from Dunbar South; not anymore it seems.
  3. Been heavy sleet here in Bev since I got up at 06:45 Temp has risen 0.2°C in the last hour to 1.8°C and the DP the same, now at 1.4°C. I think we need to wait until the weekend. This is the sleetyest winter I can ever remember here.
  4. Similar to Pit, up to 1.0°C now with a DP of -0.3°C and going the wrong way. Cloudy now with no wind at all but must be some kind of flow from the SE. Not too hopeful so a good night's sleep is in order. Hope your mum gets better soon Scott.
  5. 0.1°C here now with a DP of -1.4°C so deffo cold enough at the mo. Wind, such as it is, is ESE so not the greatest direction and has resulted in a lot of sleet or very cold rain this winter. Not looked at any charts since Saturday but will take a look later to see if we have a chance at all this far East, otherwise it should be the weekend when we finally break this winter's snow drought. Westwood might very well be a super-spreader event if it does materialise....
  6. Yep, the temp had been steadily dropping here but the fog has now descended and the temp is up by 0.3°C in the last half hour or so, so looks like some mixing taking place already and working its way down. Not a great sign but not expecting much (if anything). Maybe next week winter will really, finally hit. This winter always seems to be jam tomorrow - just out of reach but always showing promise.....
  7. Good to hear PIT. Considering the almost steady temp of the last 36 hours, this rise is quite pronounced.
  8. Looking at the radar, the 'sleet line' has now reached Howden and is making steady progress this way. Somewhat puzzled by the rise of temperature (now 2.2°C!) which, based on recent days, is not related to the sun rising. Dawn here is pretty insipid at the moment under this cloud and my room light is still on.....
  9. Not looking good here, although there are some 'pink' returns over The Wolds to the west. Temp now up to 2.0°C with a DP of 1.8°C. More hope than expectation overnight but, as they say, it's the hope that kills!
  10. Still raining and the temperature is now going the wrong way. Temperature, after being steady all night, is now rising (up to 1.6°C) with a DP of 1.3°C. Will this drop or are we doomed here on the flatlands, again?
  11. Dewpoint here 0.2°C and temp 1.2°C., dropping slowly. Raining lightly with virtually no wind. Precipitation started for the first half an hour with ice pellets then changed to rain. We shall see what happens but it's cold enough that's for sure. If the DP drops below freezing, there might be chance but not holding my hopes up much.
  12. Just got a radar grab from the time the funnel cloud was spotted. It's interesting!
  13. Ha ha, the square with the heavy shower (storm?) crossing the Humber and heading for me is not displaying in the latest update on NW radar. Must be a stealthy approach!
  14. The storms N and W of London: outflow boundaries from earlier convection?
  15. Two decent looking cells have popped up about 15 miles off the Essex coast....
  16. Some subtle hints that the Rhayader cell is rotating on NW Radar. Certainly looks like it.
  17. First lightning and it's to to the NNE. More coming this way from Lincs in a wee while methinks. Might be a goo night
  18. Wonderful skies with lots of accas and what appears to Altocumulus undulatus. Towers building to the SW and to the NE. Sky looks primed and it's very humid. Won't be long now I feel.....
