  1. Thunder here now: nice little storm approached from the SW and just skirting the town and passing over Hull. Another one to the NW too. Bonus!
  2. Getting dark here now and the wind is getting up and the echos to the SW are getting stronger. Maybe we will get something here today after all. We had five separate storms yesterday(!), no direct hits and most of the rain evaporated before it hit the ground. All finished off with a lovely light show as it got dark as the last storm of the day moved away northwards, back-building on its SE side did so. We watched each pileus grew, developed a cap, glaciated and generated lightning: it was gorgeous and lovely and warm. Pity it wasn't from my back garden then I could have sat out with a beer and watched the show!
  3. Monster just gone up in minutes near Brigg. Can't see it out my window due to lower level cumulus obscuring but has very heavy reflections already and should be a direct hit... Edit: Barton - not showing sparks yet but can't be long before there are a few in Lincs now.
  4. Rewind on the radar and see how it's all changed in 45 mins: it's amazing how this happens.....
  5. I'd stay whee I am: there are no services on the Westbound M62 although there are some places to stop with open views (only one junction between the M18 and the A1) but you need to know where they are and they are on back roads. There is a generally good view from the services where you are and you should get a direct hit.
  6. This constant storm rebuilding is in issue in those parts: Boscastle and Lynmouth being examples of when this has happened over a long period causing excessive runoff from the steep hills. Hopefully nothing like this today.
  7. Horncastle cell seems to be dying now, no doubt undercut by the cold N Sea onshore breeze. Oh well tomorrow is another day but this has been the story of the week... Night night!
  8. Am I allowed to show this? Apols if not but exciting shape on this cell now.
  9. Horncastle storm appears to have a 'flying eagle' shape to it now!
  10. The N Sea mizzle has been blowing here now for the last couple of hours - the last sunshine was around 5pm. But wait, there is a brave little storm near Horncastle fighting the cold N Sea air and making a valiant attempt to head North towards Hull, rather than joining its friends further West. Remember the little storm that did all those years ago?
  11. Lightning strikes showing up to 30 miles off the Dutch coast now... Will it last or fizzle out, that's the question...
  12. And now for the acid test (bath?)... The Dutch storms are reaching the coast. Will they survive over the North Sea? One formed out over the N Sea a couple of hours ago and made some progress NNW but fizzled out: it's remains are on the rainfall radar off the Humber at the mo. If the storms carry on making the same progress they have been from Luxembourg, then it's game on. If not, it's a good night's sleep....
  13. Cold, grey drizzle interspersed with cold, grey, windy downpours here! Not great out the window but somethings arriving from the SE on the radar. I live in hope....
  14. Another shower right now, this one from the NNE and not that heavy. I reckon we've had less than 5 mins sunshine all day and I was hoping that being near the low centre would be an advantage Glad you guys down South did rather well from an unusual set-up in June but it has been interesting watching the wind direction change throughout the day so some compensation at least. Here's to looking forward to a thundery summer - not a bad start IMHO.
  15. Wind just East of North now but still spits and spots (crapvection). Maybe some insolation later, but not looking great today up here.
  16. Crapvection here with probably a minute of sunlight since dawn. Our 'low' is pretty much 50 miles or so due East of here at the mo, heading SSE.
  17. Thunder here just after seven. All IC, clearly crawlers as you could hear the rumbles moving across the sky. One large CG about 19:30 though that scared the dogs Looks like there is a squall line developing off Berwick at the mo that is heading South.....
  18. Kinda messy this evening, although I did see the brief tornado on Brett Adair's feed. Not sure there is going to be much more in truth....
  19. Ditto, very strong gusts, the strongest of the past week, and some flashes of lightning, rumbles of thunder and hail to boot! Roll on Spring though.... I've had enough of this winter.
  20. This can't be right, yet I have checked on the 'River Levels' site and it says a peak of 12.89m is expected at 9pm this evening. This is unbelievable and, if repeated along the Severn (Wye?), will be a major disaster. Hopefully, something is wrong with the flood forecast - fingers crossed it is (wrong).....
  21. Just arrived: as expected wild and wet but not as strong as the squall with Ciara. Lets see if the wind picks up immediately afterwards as experienced by @Ryukai
  22. Getting wild here now as the 'squall' approaches. Wind has gotten up and the rain is now torrential but the main core is yet to arrive. Would not want to be driving in this.....
  23. OK, looks like we're next with a glancing blow!
  24. Yep just passed through and was pretty intense with hail but all seems OK here at any rate.
