Taken on Beverley Westwood on 5 July 2015. There was an approaching squall line made up of numerous cells stretched from NW to SE and there was lightning coming out of four of them that I could see. This cloud connected two cells, this is the northern most of the two.

  2. Ok went out and watched a gust front develop into a beautiful arcus which was joined to another arcus on a cell to the south. In total there were four cells spitting out CGs and you could hear thunder from all directions. Storm is just getting overhead now as the shelf has just passed. Will upload some piccies of the best arcus I have ever seen a little later.
  3. I go away for a while and look what happens The sun comes out and look what I have coming from the SW! Time to walk the dog: I will take my camera as there might be some good cloud shots from Westwood,
  4. Very wet here now and a Beverley streamer appears to have set itself up. If you have NW radar, type in HU17 and look at the last half hour or so and what's developing South of here. Glad I mowed the lawn when I had the chance!
  5. That rain I mentioned earlier has just about stayed to the east so I have managed to get my lawn mowed. However, a shower built on its W edge in the last 20 minutes or so and it is raining here now. More showers are breaking out in a line in Lincs and these will probably head my way. Not sure about the clear slot ever making it this far but the showers in Lincs look beefier already than the one we are having so might be a bang or two.
  6. Hmmm, according to the forecast it should be sunny here with potential showers this afternoon. However, it has clouded over and is now overcast with the cloud getting ever thicker. To the SE the rain that was supposed to be clearing the SE and heading into the N Sea appears to be swinging back inland across Lincs and we have an SE wind here. I see it is cold and rainy in Spalding and I think it will rain here too within the hour so a bit down in the dumps all told. Cold rain will spoil the day and do for any storms later I would have thought with no insolation. Oh well, it has been a good week so I am not too despondent. Better mow the lawn now though before the rain comes......
  7. Been trying to post that too but can't work out the media stuff and too tired to bother anymore! Thanks for posting though: I thought it was an important image to store :-)
  8. The storm now over the Dales and its friend to the N have to be supercells as well. Both developed and moved North then later turned NE and have continued to prosper. I can see the lightning from one of them from c. 70 miles away so it must be very tall and it looks huge on the radar and has a circular shape. The other one to its N looks a little more ragged but its persistence and right-moving motion is also indicative. Gonna have to hit the sack shortly off to Chester then Arnside tomorrow. Could be an interesting day.....
  9. Well you can see the flashes from the storm North of Bradford from Beverley: that must be 80 miles or so!
  10. Sprites perhaps? Very rare to see but if they are coming out of the cloud tops in the distance......
  11. The storm that was over Burnley is now approaching Settle, i.e it has moved due North but the one now approaching Bradford was earlier over Manchester, a NE direction of travel...... Isn't this what the Skipton storm did earlier?
  12. Couple of strikes now between Pontefract and Doncaster but no radar returns on NW. Is something getting going in this area one wonders? It's well to the east of the rest of the activity.
  13. The storm that was over S Manchester earlier seems to have split, if you follow the radar loop, and the right hand portion of it is now moving NE towards Leeds with the rest heading due North. Interesting....
  14. Looks like a small storm kicking out sferics near Southport now too.
  15. Good lines of AcCas to the north of Donny now, although the air has cleared. Was very hazy this morning and you could not see ten miles. You can 20 now no bother but the wind has gotten up dramatically over the last hour or so.
  16. Nothing here in Donny but there was a train of AcCas to the N half an hour ago that faded away again.
  17. Cloudless here in Doncaster now but lots of AcCas in Beverley this morning streaming in from the SE, even some with precipitation shafts over the Vale of York but this didn't appear to be reaching the ground. Warm and sultry now (no weather station at work sadly) and the temperature must be rising rapidly. Let's see what happens later. Enjoy the show, or the sunshine: there will be no losers today either way!
  18. Lots more showers seem to be developing in Yorkshire now. Small at the mo but, if you look at the big storm off the Humber there are developments on its left shoulder. Here we have just had a light shower and it is overcast and 13.8°C
  19. Matt Grantham has just latched on to a new wall cloud: this time to his east. Great views tonight but so far no jam......
  20. Isn't it all wonderful when it aint rain-wrapped?.......
  21. Russ Contreras has it tightening-up... This time maybe?
