  1. Temperature still falling (only to be expected, I admit, but the rate is surprising); 1.0C in Wymondham now. DP. still -4C. EDIT: Make that 0.9C LOL!
  2. I must admit I find the disconnect between the MetO outputs and the TV forecasts (even on the BBC) unfathomable. All I can imagine is that the awful graphics plus the much-reduced slot allowed for forecasts has led to such vague, hurried pronouncements that accuracy has suffered.
  3. Since I last posted, the temperature in Wymondham has dropped a further 0.5C to 1.2C. DP still -4C.
  4. It would appear that the drier air mass is having an effect - Wymondham showing 1.7C temperature, but the dew point is down at -4C, which is much lower than recent days.
  5. I'm a touch concerned that I maybe a it too close to the coast tonight for snow. Having said that, with the direction the showers are due to come from, they'll have a relatively lengthy land track to get here. Thoughts?
  6. I noticed that, in fact I was wondering whether to report Mr Self-Appointed Moderator to the real moderators.
  7. Hasn't he just stated in the MOD thread that there's unlikely to be any significant ppn. in the southern half of the UK?
  8. I lurked on said BBC board for a while. I wonder how Bill's Grebes are...
  9. Cheers - I think you may be correct WRT straight Easterlies, but I cannot recall specific examples.
  10. Normally, I'd agree with you, but my point (and that of many I think) is that what we have at the moment is the worst of both worlds. It's cold, but the presence of warm sectors and layers means that most ppn. is either falling as rain/sleet or, if it is actually falling as snow, is melting as soon as it hits the ground. As a net result, we have that wet, raw cold that this country experiences all to often, rather than the crisp, drier cold that either accompanies non-marginal snow or a settled spell of sunny winter High Pressure.
  11. What about Norfolk, Steve? Are you including us with Suffolk (bit of local rivalry there - not dissimilar to calling Lancashire "Yorkshire"!), or have you just forgotten that we exist?!
  12. I'm afraid to say I agree - had it not been for my hour or so of lying snow last week I'd have been seriously micturated-off with this "cold" spell. Seems as though we can't get proper cold in this part of the country without HLB.
  13. Thanks. Rather a vague forecast, given the use of the words "details"; those BBC graphics seem to be getting worse!
  14. There must be an incredibly narrow warm slot in this system. It's still raining here, but, according to NW radar, on either side of me (around 5 miles to my west and 10-12 miles to my east) it's sleet/snow.
  15. Rain-snow line must be fairly close to my location then - rain here with a small amount of wintry ppn. mixed-in.
  16. Wymondham showing 1.3c and -2 DP. Previous readings were from Cringleford, and out of date.
