  1. Enjoy you lot because it seems not much will get here anymore.

So much for the 10cm expected over here.

LOL you're telling me, still clear skies here yet in London, they have snow, I really hope it comes here, getting a bit impatient now!! I hear of 'blizzard like' conditions in Southern parts of London and I get all excited under my clear skies ;)

  2. Pah and yet here just outside of West London it is clear!!! I WANT SNOW, I've been getting really excited about the prospect of a bit of snow with all these warnings from the meto and S&SW Londoners! I know one area can be clear and the other cloudy but this just takes the buscuit. Anyone know what we can expect here in the East Berkshire area?

    Cheers

  3. By the way a stephenson screen should be located at 4ft or 1.3m. Not 2m.

As for LWC, I've never seen it as I would presume that 99% of people on here won't have seen it either, and you can bet it is far enough away from buildings, the right height above the floor surface etc, but being on a rooftop won't the equipment be sited over concrete/apshalt/whatever rooftops are made out of? And equipment shouldn't be sited above or next to a surface that absorbs and radiates heat.

Well to be honest considering we have had an official 29c in a few places. I'm sure that the roof would cause radiation of more than 1c. Therefore, the screen must have something under it to reduce the effect. I really can not see a temp being only 1c higher from being on a roof.

Based on that I feel 30c is official. I would then also think the screen is protected to a fair degree (pardon the pun) to accept 30c. I'm sure walking the streets of London felt like and was 30c.

  4. Well LWC has hit 30.1c so there you go. I knew people would then - after gaining 30c - go on about it being official or not! Sorry but if it is like that then most readings are false as all cities and towns are warmer due to the 'heat island.'

Maybe out in the fileds you will get the real temp! You may walk down the road and have a spot of 30c then a spot of 28c. So 30c has been reached. Central London wil have an air temp of 30c as it is busy, built up etc. All towns and citites are the same but maybe less extreme as say London. Even so we have had a 30c!

  5. I think the sunshine has gone to WIB head!.

Max temp at Exeter AP today was 20C which was reached between 14.30 -16.30.

The max temp here in Peterborough was 23C and yet we still haven't been able to break into 24c so far this year which is incredible. We have reached 23C on quiet a few occasions but never 24C although we should be able to over the weekend.

What doesn't look likely is 30c being reached this weekend although a few spots may reach 28C. Considering the model output the chances of recording 30C are decreasing all the while and I wouldn't be surprised if this weekends temps happen to be the highest of the summer!. All the while the summer clock is ticking and autumn is just around the corner <_< .

The hottest day of the year will be 27th November 2007 at 90f odd. Oh that is because I will be in Goa...just as well though. I reckon 27c on Sunday.
