  1. Another Autumn day down the pan - it's more like goddamn summer. This constant non-weather has gotten quite ridiculous now, much more of this and I'm gonna end up on the funny farm.
  2. By eck you could cook a few omelettes over that! Amazing stuff.
  3. True - I should never have gotten my hopes up so much for it during the height of the summer awfulness, but I expected better than this. Truly off the scale in the tediosity stakes.
  4. Of course, we got nothing of the sort - just bone dry, never cold stagnation. And what do we have today, on what is definitively the start of Autumn? More gin-clear skies, virtually no wind and a temperature which is way too high. Excellent... not. September? Sloptember, more like. October, I'm banking on you to make amends,in spades.
  5. I could say the same, but today has turned out OK - it's raining for the first time since I can't remember when. Beautiful.
  6. Gardening and cleaning I leave to the missus (as every bloke should), and six months of evening gardening should be enough for anyone anyway. Painting isn't my scene - be it decorative or artistic. Anything else, I can acheive perfectly well in the cosy glow of artificial light whilst the world outside my window is bathed in glorious darkness. And if boredom sets in, it's easy to make the darkness complete at the flick of a switch and take a little nap.
  7. Unless you've had the electricity disconnected, I can't imagine how that could possibly be a problem. Leaving the house for work at 0545, the darkness at that time is total. And to think that it was still light at that time just a month ago. Happy days are here again!
  8. Oh, is that it?? Was expecting something a little more exciting but thanks for clearing that up anyway. I find the outdoors more enticing and enjoyable when the sun is hidden and temperatures are low, and that drinks are best taken indoors. But that's just me....
  9. Rub it in whydontcha? At least it's getting dark at a reasonable hour - you can't take that away from me!
  10. Damn thing barely ever went away. Getting very tiresome now - let's hope the payback is swift and severe, when it inevitably comes.
  11. Horrible, horrible day - feels more like cloudy afternoon in July than mid - September.
  12. Being a child of the 70's I've got lava lamps all over the shop; they suffice. Ah, fond memories of the blackouts we used to get then, too!
  13. Maybe a good idea! Y'know it's occurred to me that I NEVER open the curtains. They only get opened when the missus gets up (which is never, ever before me) and spoils things. I'd be quite happy to leave them open when night falls but she goes and does the same trick in reverse.
  14. Hey Botts, why dontcha just brick up the windows and have done with?
  15. We're all different, whether the cause be medical, emotional, whatever. What makes you happy makes me sad and vice versa. I can accept that but tend to react accordingly when I'm portrayed as some unsocial misfit for being in the minority.
  16. Only a quick glimpse at that (no time til tomorrow) but ye - sun sure does get me down - it ain't imagined.
  17. Well summer 2014 turned out to be pretty stormy - in here at least. Today looks like being another totally misplaced one, frustrating like reading the final chapter of a book in which the author delays the conclusion even tho' you know what's coming. All the elderberries from my garden are now wine, my hops are safely harvested and in storage and the lemon tree has taken up its winter residence indoors. Despite my profound colour blindness even I could see the change in the trees when taking the kid to school this morning. I'm satsified that it's all over, after what seems like an eternity. A sunny, mild day in itself does not make it 'summer', however disagreeable it may be - all the other ingredients which make it such have long fallen by the wayside... mushy knows what I'm on about!
  18. Actually, yes - I find it tends to bring out all the riff-raff. Better off indoors, unless you're one of 'em. How dare you? I choose to socialise indoors with people I invite or am invited to. How the hell does disliking summer and its attendant misery make one 'unsocial'?
  19. How come they're not doing that right now, instead of messing around on here gushing how 'nice' it is?
  20. Yup - what we have now is a total lack of weather. It's horrible.
