  1. There was only really flooding in 2007. But cool and wet is far more comfortable than searing heat and sleepless nights.
  2. And for summer, a repeat of the last 3 would do very nicely
  3. For late Jan I wouldn't mind a few Atlantic storms. Early Feb another beast from the east and late Feb into March I would quite like a nice anticylconic spell.
  4. I have to admit, I am starting to get tired of the cold now. If it isn't going to deliver and just bring slate-grey skies with temperatures cold but nothing notable then I wouldn't mind a return to Atlantic storms. The only positive for the cold now is to keep the CET down, because if we fail to get a sub-3c this month the modern winter loons will be out in full force once again.
  5. Those who are wanting snow don't worry, none of it is settling anyway, you are not missing anything.
  6. My weather station has just registered 0.3mm of precipitation, the first of this cold spell, confirms the thaw.
  7. Dew point is continuing to rise, I would expect it to start turning less wintry soon.
  8. I can't see where anymore snow is going to come from. The Met Office warnings should have been taken down by now, must have forgot about them or something.
  9. I think you might be right, the west Mids is probably less marginal. I think it is starting to settle here now, trying its best anyway.
  10. Heavy/moderate snow on and off for most of the day here, but NOTHING has settled. In fact, it is accelerating the thaw if anything.
  11. Why haven't the Met Office updated their advisories though? They are still yesterday's, other than the cancelled East Mids one. Temperature dropping but the snow is still thawing - and still falling from the sky quite heavily. If it settled we would have had another inch by now. Blades of grass starting to poke through the snow cover.
  12. VERY HEAVY snow here now, is it settling? Of course it bloody isn't...
  13. They haven't updated the warnings for the west Midlands yet, but I would put money on them being taken down. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed when there is heavy snow outside! It is fairly heavy now, so if that isn't sticking (which it isn't) then it will never stick. It isn't even settling on lying snow or on cars.
  14. Dew point is rising rapidly here, so most of the precipitation will gradually turn to sleet/rain through the day I would have thought.
  15. Well now that the snow is turning into horrible, wet, slush (which is far more dangerous than the dry stuff) I just want it to melt quickly.
  16. It says a lot about how much milder it is when you have loads of absolutely huge flakes and they still will not settle!
  17. Seeing as the end of the REAL wintry spell is now pretty much here, time for a quick sum up: Snowfall - Nothing special Temperatures - Very cold Longevity - Very good All in all, not bad compared to the dross we have been used to.
  18. The word non-event is banded about a lot these days, but folks, this is a real non-event. Not where it narrowly misses you but gives everyone else a pasting, this case is a real one. It hasn't even got close to our shores. The models and forecasters have got it horribly, horribly wrong.
  19. The Met Office early warnings for today have been CANCELLED, never seen that before. They are admitting they got it wrong for a change!
  20. HAHA, OMG, LOOK AT THIS MET OFFICE WARNING: THAT IS FOR TODAY! I have never, EVER seen that in my life.
  21. I had barely 2 inches! I have had far, far better even in the god awful winter of 06/07. The only thing really notable were the severely low temperatures and the prolonged cold. For snowfall this has been nothing special.
  22. *Checks calendar* Sorry I must be going mad, I could have sworn there was another half to winter somewhere...
  23. I think accumulations will be restricted to 250m+ today. It has been snowing quite nicely with big flakes here on and off for a while, yet absolutely none of it has settled. The ground/existing snow is too wet and the snow is too light. It looks like the Manchester area is going to get all the fun...AGAIN.
  24. After looking at it closely for a third time, it definitely has a direct east-to-west movement, very little southerly movement.
