  1. Wow, after running the radar animation for the past half hour it really did die out rapidly, really quite incredible. Ah well, school should be shut again tomorrow as the roads will be even worse in the morning.
  2. Yeah it pretty much died out when it reached the Shropshire/Staffordshire border, stopped looking at the radar about half an hour ago though so it might have changed, but I would be surprised if we got anything else tonight.
  3. I think that will be my lot for today now, doesn't look like anything else is on the way now, excellent day though. Roads will be a nightmare in the morning.
  4. Radar is up the shoot again me thinks, either that or something extremely unlucky is happening! http://www.netweather.tv/secure/cgi-bin/subs/hiradarzoomv42.pl?map=;xtime=15:10;sx=0;sy=0;xw=64;yw=64;places=0;sharp=a;postcode=WS11%209WS;pcz=y;actime=;prec=;scale=alt;sferics=0;metar=;sess=1d3d228139d5ba6d5119c67af0427434 http://www.netweather.tv/secure/cgi-bin/subs/hiradarzoomv42.pl?map=;xtime=16:05;sx=0;sy=0;xw=64;yw=64;places=0;sharp=a;postcode=WS11%209WS;pcz=y;actime=;prec=;scale=alt;sferics=0;metar=;sess=1d3d228139d5ba6d5119c67af0427434 Seems to be breaking up at the same point!
  5. Starting to break up just before it hits me, I don't believe this
  6. Can't wait for it to hit here now! Would really be a cracking end to a prolonged cold spell. Hope it hits before darkness so I can see it fall properly.
  7. That's coming towards me, and if Conor is happy with it then it must be good  Only kidding mate
  8. A pulse of heavy snow is heading straight for me according to the radar. Today has been the best day of the cold spell for me!
  9. Gone back to small flakes now, but still coming down fast!
  10. My Mum has got him a taxi, everything should be fine I think!
  11. My brother is now stuck in Cannock after sitting his exam and the buses are all cancelled! Really coming down here now.
  12. Very good sized flakes now actually - and lots of them. Definitely settling because you can see all the individual flakes on the fresh snow cover, continuing to intensify as well. This has been a very nice surprise today, was never expecting to get this much.
  13. Getting much heavier now. Biggest flakes I have seen all day!
  14. Snow certainly getting heavier with bigger flakes here now. Absolutely minimal thaw. Usually the thinnest tree branches are the first to thaw - but even these are still covered.
  15. Snow is now falling off the sides of cars. Is this due to the weight of the snow or because it has slightly melted? Probably both, but if there is any thaw it is barely noticeable. -0.1c here and snow is still falling!
  16. I know, it really is incredible! My neighbour spent half an hour gritting and clearing my road...yet still couldn't get up the hill!
  17. In total at least 4 inches, probably pushing for 5. Got at least 1.5" last night. Still falling nicely as well. It is the deepest it has been all cold spell anyway.
  18. The modern winter theory surely has very little credibility left after the past month? The presumption that a severe cold spell is impossible is well and truly dead anyway. If there are still some who reckon this wasn't severe then they are living in the wrong country!
  19. No sign of a thaw here. Temperature still below freezing and the snow is still falling! Lovely  And besides, a thaw is a very bad thing for the roads. As the water will run off onto the ungritted roads and just freeze overnight, causing bedlam in the morning.
  20. My snow seems quite dry. The wind keeps blowing it off the roof in a form of powder, and it is drifting very easily.
  21. Snow getting heavier here now, still the small flakes but they are settling easily. I estimate that I have a total snow cover of at least 4 inches, probably got an extra inch last night. Mini-drifts forming up walls and car wheels.
  22. Berkshire is south-east, it's within a stone's throw of London!
  23. We go by Met Office definitions on here, this is a weather forum! I AM NOT A BRUMMIE! Yes my Mum is from Birmingham, but I was born in Stafford and lived my whole life in Staffordshire...I ai now Brummay.
  24. To be fair the east Midlands were never going to get anything substantial, a dusting at best. This was always going to be a west Midlands event rather than east.
  25. Snow is much lighter now, I suspect that should be that for today, apart from the odd slightly heavier burst.
