  1. You watch, this will all go pear shaped now and we will end up with double figures for the rest of Feb, in which case I may have to have a look at your heating system with a hammer...
  2. That chart doesn't look marginal in the slightest to me, don't know where you are getting the "dew points above freezing" from? -3c--4c across Wales.
  3. I certainly wouldn't mind cold and sunny - better than warm and wet any day.
  4. Horseshoe Pass is brilliant. Me and my Dad went up there when we had the incredible October snow, they had a fair covering up there. Certainly worth the journey.
  5. I'm sure Mr D will answer this himself, but I read his post as if he were referring to the UKMO model, not the Met Office? In which case he does have a very valid point! I agree with you though John - the Met Office have stuck with their guns throughout and look like being proved right.
  6. Brilliant, thanks for that, it works now.
  7. People should write snow off at this range at their peril. I learnt that lesson in January - get the cold and the snow WILL come. Anyway, even on the current runs virtually everywhere should see something, and the precipitation forecasts will more than likely upgrade as we get to a more reliable timeframe.
  8. I'm not too fussed about snow to be honest, I just want a nice, cold Feb to give us a winter in the very cold category. Of course, I wouldn't say no to snow!
  9. The Netweather forecasts are based on the GFS runs. I think the forecasts need to make this clearer.
  10. My word, +144 is a beauty... http://www.wzkarten3.de/pics/Recm1441.gif
  11. Plain old light rain here, I will clip the heavier stuff but doubt it will accumulate to anything.
  12. Just look at the beast off the west coast of Wales, intensifying every minute! That is what the warning is out for. Continued light snow here, nothing settling though of course.
  13. Nowt here yet, but I presume something will fall out of the sky soon.
  14. Flash weather warning out for this afternoon for Shropshire and Staffordshire: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/wm/wm_forecast_warnings.html Very much in line with the NAE showing some fairly heavy snow for the north Midlands. Could be interesting later :o
  15. GFS FI wouldn't be a GFS FI without a potent low pressure.... http://www.wzkarten3.de/pics/Rtavn2161.png
  16. Something is seriously wrong with the models. There is no happy medium at the moment, it just keeps switching from one extreme to another! Although saying that, I wouldn't mind a bit of this... http://www.wzkarten3.de/pics/Rtavn1501.png
  17. Brilliant, thanks for the update Ian! Just that there doesn't seem to be a fat lot on the radar, although it is definitely cold enough here with temps still below freezing and a DP of -1.3c.
  18. HD, the ignore function is your friend, sad to say the list on mine is growing!
  19. I know it is a million miles away, but what a turnaround, +216 is absolutely gorgeous... http://www.wzkarten3.de/pics/Recm2161.gif
  20. If anybody can call this month unremarkable then they are living in the wrong country! By far the coldest month here on record (going back to Jan 2005) and the most frosts in a month. I recorded a frost for every night of the first 15 days. Also recorded my lowest ever temperature. Max temp...8.6c Min temp...-10.4c Average temp...0.6c Max DP...7.1c Min DP...n/a (got it as -73.3c, obviously an error) Average DP...-1.0c Max pressure...1014.9hpa Min pressure...990.4hpa Precipitation...54.1mm Frosts...22 A fantastic winter month. Not much in the way of snowfall, but I did get a few inches that stuck around for quite some time.
  21. I think this January will be remembered not because of the depth of the cold, but the longevity of it and the lack of any mild muck - makes a refreshing change.
