  1. I have had 22mm so far this month, which is a deluge compared to some!
  2. I think the reservoirs were considerably lower than 96% in 2006...
  3. Some people are hoping for a hot and dry summer, but with a dry or very dry spring so far, I say be careful what you wish for. I would prefer to have a wet summer if it means avoiding water shortages.
  4. Had distant rumbling yesterday morning, not exactly a storm so I am a member!
  5. The closest I got (I think this is the lowest max anyway) was -2.9c on New Years Eve - which is pretty notable in my opinion!
  6. Had some rumbles of thunder this morning, but by the looks of the NW radar I was just a couple of miles from the main storm itself - gutted!
  7. That's what was so refreshing about it, we finally had a normal winter - a mix of cold, wet, mild and dry. We had very mild conditions before Xmas, severe cold in late December/early January. Then a pretty average spell through most of January. A cold spell at the start of February which most people won't forget in a hurry, then we had a mild spell at the end of Feb. I thought it was a good winter!
  8. I just think that when we get a couple of inches of snow the whole country should stop...what do you mean it happens already?!
  9. It's like a bird sanctuary in our garden at the moment. Got 6 woodpigeons, a pair of robins, blue tits, a pair of collared doves, several blackbirds, the odd wren, some magpies and we have now got great tits visiting the pond for a drink! Probably the best though are the jays, don't see them very often though, only appear when we put nuts out instead of seed but there are several in the trees round the back.
  10. If you got something like 2cm I would agree with you, but thats 8 inches of snow! You may not see that amount again for a good long while.
  11. Makes a nice crunching noise when you walk on it as well, with wet snow it's just squelchy.
  12. Here are some snaps from the Feb event in Somerset... The last one is of us finally being able to get out to the minibus to go home after several hours of waiting with no power or heating...
  13. Agreed, got a few inches from that. Probably one of the best post-winter snows I have seen. I think it completely melted by the end of the day though! I enjoyed the White Xmas of 2004 (It was 2004 wasn't it?), although it wasn't a great deal of snow it was still magical to see a good covering of snow on the day itself. My first and so far only proper White Xmas that I can remember.
  14. February 6th this year in Somerset, was the most snow on low ground I have ever seen. Brought down trees and we were trapped because all the minor roads leading out of where we were staying were blocked by snow and trees. Was also very unexpected!
  15. Thought it was real for a sec, then I saw when it was posted
  16. Sorry but this has to be the most obvious April Fool ever!
  17. Haven't a clue, John just said at the start that this will be the last ever Sunday morning edition, and from next week it will be of an evening. Back to the forecast, a dull and mild week summed it up really! Hang on, I've just realised - F1! The Malaysian Grand Prix is at 10am next week. Countryfile will now be 7pm rather than 11am.
  18. Bit of info for you. From next week Countryfile will now be on a Sunday evening, I presume the forecast will do the same.
  19. In Britain when it's hot I do because we don't have air conditioning in every single building, there is no escape from the heat! At least in notoriously hot places they are well equipped for it. Plus there is so much tasty (and unhealthy) food in America - my paradise! Plus you have theme parks and the possibility of fantastic thunderstorms!
  20. Yeah give me this over spring warmth any day! Temperature is fluctuating wildly. Went from 7c to 4.5c in just a few minutes - and that was from just a bit of cloud cover! Shows how strong the sun is at this time of year I guess.
  21. The NW radar must be iffy today. Says I am under some moderate/heavy PPN - but there is absolutely nothing falling out of the sky!
  22. I use it a lot, but it won't work for me either. Wunderground must be down or something.
