  1. Temperature falling away like a stone here. 6.9c to 6.6c in a couple of minutes, a peppering of showers heading my way as well. Could be an interesting day!
  2. Sounds great, the best weather website is about to get even better!
  3. I am going to Orlando next July, as it is regarded as the lightning capital of the US I should be in for some fireworks! July is usually the hottest and the wettest time of year.
  4. My birth heralded the arrival of the modern winter...sorry!
  5. Felt like early summer in the sun this afternoon! Was lovely.
  6. I remember when they used to have a radar on the BBC site (a real radar, not the rubbish one they have now with blobs from 6 hours ago). Really has gone downhill. And bring back the symbols! The only good thing is that you can get local video forecasts on there. Previously I couldn't.
  7. Got to 17.1c today!! Felt lovely outside, dare I say it it felt like summer in the sun. Was nice to be standing at the bus stop without shivering to death.
  8. I think people are appreciating the Spring warmth more than recent years after the lack of mild weather throughout the Winter.
  9. That's the problem. When it's around 20c in June and the sun is blazing, people don't find it so hot and presume they don't need sun screen. But the truth is it could be -10c (in June yes it won't happen) and you will still burn without protection.
  10. Got to the dizzy heights of 15.1c today, the highest of the year so far.
  11. Oh alright then Mr.Pedantic :o We are BARELY half way through March then
  12. Not even half way through March yet! But I want another good snowfall in April like last year. Had more than 2 inches which isn't bad going for mid-Spring.
  13. Welcome to NW. Just had a look round the Met Office site, they say we can reach 7 and in exceptional cases we can get 8s in the south around the Summer Solstice, but due to our northern latitude that is the limit.
  14. I'm not usually a fan of early spring warmth but the last few days have been lovely, positively warm in the sun as well.
  15. Caught the sun playing football in April a few times, but I burn easily and don't tan.
  16. But it's the way the BBC have tweaked it slightly. The Met Office said it MAY WELL have been colder, giving the possibility that it may not have. But the BBC have said "The Met Office added that global warming HAD prevented this winter from being even colder", implying that it definitely has done so. Might just be me being picky but the BBC have selected their wording very carefully.
  17. Interesting stats there Mr Data. I think this winter has been pretty good, and excellent compared to the past 10 years. If this is a modern winter then I will have another one next year please.
  18. Yes I certainly knew about the SW snow! Quickly checked the Met Office website the night before as I was heading back to Cannock from Somerset in the morning, and they didn't seem to be making much fuss about it. It snowed all night and for most of the morning in the end. The Met Office are usually very good, but I have to say they have been below par this winter.
  19. Hang on. Didn't they get the snow in the south west on Thursday night/Friday morning (5th/6th) completely wrong? Because didn't the Met think it was going to go east but it just stuck over the west? And I hope in their winter forecast assessment they refer to the original forecast, and say what went wrong, and NOT say we got it right because we changed it nearer the time. Nothing wrong into admitting they were wrong.
  20. I believe so. It wasn't really an ice age as such though of course. But it was a prolonged period of below long term average temperatures, giving it the nickname - as you said - the mini ice age.
  21. I do wonder why the Met Office agreed to it though....£££?
  22. And they sure liked the old fashioned whistling wind sound effect didn't they
  23. "Distinct possibility of a White Xmas" - You can't predict Xmas accurately 10 days away, let alone 10 months!
