Ok we will agree to differ, but you are going completely against the Met Office, BBC and Net Weather forecasters - very brave of you! Watching the latest BBC forecast now, and with 24 hours to go they still haven't changed their tune a great deal.
Could you perhaps provide some basis on your claims? And don't simply post the PPN type charts because they discount snow everytime the 850s go above -5 - which isn't always the case. The BBC are showing heavy snow. The Met Office are showing heavy snow. And the respected posters and forecasters on this very website are forecasting heavy snow. It is going to take a heck of a lot of persuading for me to be dislodged. If the BBC have backtracked monumentally by the morning, I may change my viewpoint, but at the moment I believe it will be mostly snow for my location.
I am trusting the professionals on Net Weather, Met Office and the BBC on this - surely there must be other factors in this. But if it does fall as snow, there is going to be a hell of a lot of it.
The precipitation has moved further north yes, but over the Midlands it is very, very heavy, and most importantly, the mild sector has barely budged at all.
Andy I think you need to have a break for the night and see the situation in the morning, otherwise you are going to worry yourself to death! BBC still not backing down. Let's just wait and see how it pans out
Well if the BBC are going to backtrack, they are leaving it very late. People will be quite annoyed if the forecast changes dramatically at the last minute.
On the Iceland site the charts for some reason do indeed go from T0: http://en.vedur.is/weather/forecasts/atlantic/ Not sure why WZ or NW don't do the same.
No no no, I'm not jealous! I meant it in amazement and disbelief at just how much snow you could end up with. We could both end up with a major dumping. It just shows how great this winter is when you say you have lived through the winters of the 70s and 80s. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression!
The NW Extra one, got it today for the month, only £3.49 and well worth it! Flakes are huge here now, my wounded snow cover has been healed. Bring on tomorrow night.
I think it is very poor that when a major storm is on the way, possibly bringing severe disruption and may even put lives at risk, is being totally ignored by BBC News 24. Instead they put rubbish about Baftas on, which most people don't give a damn about.
Extremely promising local forecast on Midlands Today: "Major winter storm" "Significant snowfall" "Blizzards tomorrow night" Will the BBC finally get it right? What a time to finally do it!
Yeah just seen it. Still time for it to change though, the GFS could be wrong.
The snow is FINALLY starting to settle here now, let's hope it just doesn't die out now.
