  1. I also thought that programme was top notch, and I am thoroughly looking forward to tonight's episode. Well I would give it another decade or so, and if there is still very little or no warming, then the global warming theory must be reviewed.
  2. Although I would love to see cooling instead of warming, I simply cannot see the evidence. Temperatures do seem to have levelled off over the past 10 years. But a decade does not make a concrete trend IMO.
  3. Another thing that annoys me is that they are always cheerful when things are unnaturally mild in winter, but sound extremely concerned when we get something slightly seasonal (even if it is just a bit chilly). It's pathetic!
  4. I agree about today, definitely. Watching the forecast this morning, I was under the impression that it would be dull with the chance of an isolated light shower looking at the map - so I didn't take my coat to school. If I was 10 minutes later getting home I would have been drowned! And we had consistent heavy rain for a couple of hours, partially flooding some roads. They made a howler today.
  5. Well after a bit of rain last night, it has taken my September total to 3 inches! And we are only a week in! Temp...12.3c Barometer...1002.5mb (rising rapidly) Humidity...93% Dew Point...11.2c Day Rain...1.8mm Storm Rain...77.2mm High rain rate...6.6mm/hr Month rain...75.4mm Year rain...593.3mm
  6. Absolutely horrible day today. Non-stop rain and a chilly wind has made it feel awful. Even got the heating on. Temp...14.4c Max temp...15.1c Min temp...12.5c Barometer...992.4mb (rising slowly) Humidity...93% Dew point...13.3c Day rain...8.9mm Storm rain...69.3mm High rain rate...36.8mm/hr Month rain...67.6mm Year rain...585.5mm
  7. Morning everyone, a truly dire morning as I woke up to a torrential downpour, some quite startling rainfall totals to say the least. Temp...12.8c Dew Point...11.8c Humidity...94% Barometer...988.4mb (rising slowly) Day rain...5.6mm Storm rain...66mm High rain rate...14.7mm/hr Month rain...64.3mm Year rain...582.2mm Absolutely dreadful.
  8. Terrible day, the last of the rain seems to have cleared off. Today's total is 27mm so just over an inch. The September total is now 58.4mm and today's high rainfall rate was 60mm/hr. Current Temp...13.4c Max Temp...14.1c Min Temp...11.4c Barometer...984.7mb (falling slowly) Humidity...93%. All in all, today was crap!
  9. Well my humidity has been stuck above 90% all day! It may not be wrong.
  10. Today's deluge has taken the monthly total for September to nearly 2 inches (exact is 48.3mm)...and it's less than 5 days in!
  11. My god, watching that stream. It is being described as "flowing over like a waterfall", this is getting very bad indeed.
  12. Hate the things, can't sit down of an evening with the lights on and windows open without being swarmed by them. Hope we have an early sharp frost to kill them off quickly.
  13. If this storm surge is as bad as some of you guys are saying, this is going to get very nasty indeed
  14. Well the last day of summer has been a carbon copy of the rest of the season. Cool, cloudy and wet. Dreadful day to be honest.
  15. Can anybody give me a decent, frequently updated radar/satellite link of Gustav? Thanks.
  16. But why isn't the ice recovering?
  17. I would extend that to 24 months. We have had 2 coolish, wet summers and 2 mild winters in succession. With regard to the leaves, I have some already turning brown, even nature thinks it is Autumn.
  18. Can't stand the things. I have to shut my window of an evening or otherwise my room would be full of them. Only had one so far this year, usually have plagues of them around Sept-Oct normally before getting killed off by the first frost.
  19. I may be wrong but doesn't sulphur cause acid rain? Please correct me if this is incorrect.
  20. It was a general statement, wasn't aimed at anyone in particular.
  21. You can't say our climate isn't warming, winters have been exceptionally warm lately, unfortunately summers haven't followed suit in the past 2 years.
  22. Precisely. It isn't going to switch from record low ice to record high ice in one year. I don't think it will reach last year's minimum so therefore it will be an improvement IMO. The past 20 years of warming didn't suddenly happen in one year.
  23. The BBC will find a way to manipulate that last sentence into "the warmest year on record", just watch!
