  1. Just had a very long, very distant and very loud rumble of thunder. The actual storm has just shaved across the south of me though unfortunately.
  2. I AM NO LONGER A MEMBER OF THE NO STORMS CLUB XD Yippeeee! Very heavy rain, a couple of flashes of lightning, several rumbles of thunder and the pigeons are still sat out in the rain I am happy now!
  3. Distant thunder Could I be about to get my first storm of the summer? I shall keep you posted!
  4. I reckon they should make Jurassic Park
  5. Why don't the scientists do something useful and find cures for diseases? I just cannot see the benefits from wasting money on this.
  6. I didn't exist . Those must be truly amazing memories. We surely have to have something like that again eventually. If we had that now health and safety drivel would go into overdrive and tell everybody not to move an inch to prevent certain death. We can't cope with a few inches let alone a few feet. My dad has told me about 1991 but it is very hard for me to imagine after having my whole life in the "no snow" period. And I am going for wet and mild.
  7. I was in the Algarve and it was cooler there!
  8. Being a relative novice, what does a strong el nino mean for the UK? And is this the same David Dilley who goes by the name of GlobalWeatherOscillations on here?
  9. Ive seen the Feb 1991 with Francis Wilson (that useless one off Sky News). The east of England are about to get 1 foot of snow and he seems like he is bored! If that happened today the mild rampers on the BBC would be out in seconds claiming the apocalypse is approaching. I wish I could see snow events like those.
  10. I don't buy the Gulf Stream theory at all. If the Gulf Stream is weakening, then why are we getting consistently above average temperatures? The past decade has seen very little snowfall here.
  11. As a complete novice when does the ice stop melting and start rebuilding again? End of September? Just curious.
  12. This is very, very odd. I was in Cambrils in Spain last week, and in the sky was a bright orange light just as you described. But it lasted about a minute and then went behind a cloud, but did not re-emerge. Strange.
  13. Where you hear/read this? Not the BBC surely...
  14. But you can't expect ice go from way below average to above average in 12 months. This is a good start to a recovery and now we can only hope it continues.
  15. That particular one goes to at least 2005 to my eyes.
  16. I think this further proof that the BBC do not give any hint that global warming may not exist. I posted in here (I think) how I found dozens of stories supporting the GW theory and absolutely none going against it. A bit of middle ground would be appreciated BBC.
  17. Yeah I see where you are coming from. It probably would increase snowfall in the Arctic, but at the same time it could increase melting.
  18. I thought open water was darker so it absorbed more sunlight making it warmer than ice, therefore exacerbating the melting problem. But I am by no means an expert on this!
  19. I know CO2 enhances plant growth, but it is no consolation if it is causing the deaths of millions of people. I am sitting on the fence in terms of global warming, that is why I am using "if" and "maybe".
  20. Thousands?! I am sorry but I have to hugely disagree with this. I have done a little research on the web, and according to Wikipedia (not the most reliable source I know but it is good enough) there is around 150 years of coal left. I really do not understand your views on CO2. If there is global warming and it is caused by CO2, then it is starving the poorest nations on earth through drought. You cannot stop CO2 from entering the atmosphere unless it is channeled underground or something.
  21. Yes it is now thanks. Took until Christmas to open but it eventually worked. Thanks
  22. How is it logical?? If we build more coal power stations it will use up an already dwindling resource even faster, it'll pump more rubbish into the atmosphere and we will soon have to look for another source of energy. We need a source which is abundant, releases a lot of energy and little pollution - nuclear.
  23. That first link doesn't seem to open for me..
  24. Unbiased news service? My left backside. I have never seen them post one news story which goes against Global Warming, I shall have a look around and see how many pro Global Warming stories I can find, then I shall see how many against Global Warming. But I have never seen one. For http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7503060.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7461707.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7303385.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7139797.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7006640.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/6944401.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/6171053.stm There are dozens more. Now lets see how many anti Global Warming stories there are... Against I seriously could not find any. There was also a video "highlighting" how the Antarctic ice is "retreating2 back in March.
