  1. Cold and snowy week ahead Author: Press Office 11:43 (UTC) on Mon 8 Feb 2021 A cold week ahead for the whole UK with the continued snow predominantly in the east. Cold air is now firmly in place across the whole of the UK, with wind chill making conditions feel even colder. Snow showers will continue to feed into eastern parts of the UK bringing further snow accumulations to the regions that saw snow over the weekend. A number of National Severe Weather Warnings for snow are in force, with further warnings likely to be issued through the week. Chief Meteorologist Steve Ramsdale, said: “With cold air across all of the UK any precipitation will fall as snow. Snow showers will continue to feed into eastern parts through the week. Many places will see further snow accumulations with a few centimetres likely quite widely. Some areas will see larger accumulations with 20 cm or more possible for some. Convergence lines, where showers organise into bands, becoming heavy and persistent, are likely to drive these larger accumulations and further warnings are likely to be issued as the locations affected become clearer. “Overnight temperatures will be notably low through the week, especially in areas with lying snow. We can expect to see -10°C as far south as East Anglia later in the week. Daytime temperatures will also be cold, only reaching 1 or 2 degrees Celsius for many early in the week. With strong winds as well the wind chill will make it feel much colder.”
  2. Hail/graupel/snow/polystyrene(canny funny) is intensifying - it seems to have coincided with the lack of wind here?
  3. Looking at the Netweather radar animation the precipitation is showing more intensity, I think I'll watch for an hour or so more - I can't help myself, I might have a small whisky whilst I radar/lamp watch
  4. light dusting here, been away watching TV with the missus (some Danish series called the investigation about a True story about a submarine murder - pretty grim) so been catching up - radar does look a bit better - light hail falling currently there is still hope just as I posted this the hail turned heavier and larger
  5. Latest radar shows a gap between our sh**te we've got now and what the Scots are getting it has been noticable today that this has been drifing slowly south today, the stuff in Scotland is what I was hoping we got today - Anybody know why there is a gap? I would like to think we are going to get what the Scots are getting in the next few days coz they look like proper beasty snow showers not the pussys we,ve got now
  6. I still have a laugh when people on the main thread are looking ahead more then a week for the next or the continuation of the freeze (models do look good) whilst we are waiting for this one to start properly with regards to snow - mind you I still can't help taking a peak myself
  7. every time I have looked out today there has s been at least a few flakes floating about, -the wind is drying the ground now, so hopefully when these North sea snow showers continue to intensify it should lay,
  8. been an on/off mix of light hail/snow here this morning, still hopeful of better things to come later today/tonight
  9. Good morning - woke up to a light dusting and there is currently a light mix of hail/snow falling The radar compared to late last night is showing a lot more activity which seems to have intensified - lets hope this continues to happen as the day goes on
  10. Jeez, I'm disappointed with this evening so far with the start of this cold snap - They are going bonkers for FI charts in 2 weeks time on the main thread
  11. It is snowing lightly here now in Westmoor The models still looking good IMBY for cold/snow, I am just a little bit underwhelmed by what is on the radar at the moment though it would be showing some big stuff in the North sea by now, I know there is plenty of time yet, we shall see
  12. Dry here, waiting for the North sea snow machine to kick in later (please), give up on the t-! count down still hopeful we'll get our share of the white stuff later bye the way had a lovely Indians for my tea its perked me right up ready for the radar/lampost watching later
