  1. What precisely makes you feel you went wrong?I would find that fascinating purely as an educational excercise for me to see how these procedures work.
  2. nice pics Niel But seriously there have been some well constructed points on both sides of this erm....chat.I personaly am talentless and possibly colour blind but enjoy the challenge of jumping in the 4x4 and heading up the hills at the first sign of sleet!I find it interesting to post immages of current weather pictures as a record of local conditions and because it is afterall a weather site.As mentioned the solution is simple split it into three categories, weather, art, miscellaneous.I disagree with a premiership of photographers as the learners like me benefit massively from their know- how.Nw is fortunate to have hugely talented photographic artists amongst it's ranks and I think that Oons original point is valid re:banal praise but would be a mute point if sections were to be split as i wouldn't give a hoot if someone said they thought my blizzard shot was a bit fuzzy as I'd post back "you stand here and do better!".....but equally if I saw a rather good sunset in the art section I should be allowed to thank that person in any way I see fit........not have to form a 30 word essay.
  3. hm you got a bit of a reputation around Durham for that so I hear.
  4. Earths natural cycle. Before NW I was an undecided.
  5. heavy snow here at work nr stanley ....not lying atm but very windy
  6. Next on cookery corner.........................
  7. I think people will find in a huge world whatever evidence suits them.I could add Iran/Iraqi heavy snow...some would say not unexpected or mention the Winter battering America has taken...seasonal norm?Others could find hundreds more examples for and against warming(undeniable fact in my mind that Earth was)but we are certainly not in the doomsday posistion bandied around as little as 5 years ago.Climate cycles should not be dismissed out of hand and the possibility that the warming theory is wrong may gather pace. People try to have their cake and eat it.If there's drought or a flood media etc say warmings to blame,if there's a snow event or an abnormaly cold event in the world it's dismissed out of hand as a natural occurance.
  8. Or indeed if the waters around Shetland Coasties part of the world were getting colder.Heaven forbid we would dismiss it for not being in keeping with fashion huh? If you had to pay my phone bill you wouldn't be saying that!
  9. Or a new freezer that has just been turned on and argue it wont get colder because it's warm now do you mean?
  10. There again only averaging temp's over a miniscule time period say less than 100,000 yrs let alone under 100 or since 1971 so that a warming trend is highlighted is sensible?Think I'll reach for the phonebook too.
  11. Somebody once said to me that people tend to agree with reports/findings that represent their own view and dismiss what does not.The northern costal extremities of our country would I believe indicate changes in climate/maritme conditions earlier than hugely populated areas as human influences are not so obvious. If the climate is as I now believe following a naturaly occuring cycle, reports such as this will become commonplace in the ensuing years.

  21. Great show!My fav was the Gene Genie B) Soz couldn't resist.It's a rock.
  22. No I'm not at all scared of scientists?Erm... a veto for the public,is that maybe democracy? If a baker makes a mistake you get hard pasties................if a god awful human manufactured virus is released by a lets say tired lab technician it'll be tough cookies for us all- more a matter of degree of consequences for a mishap was my point. I thought the bluetongue epidemic had been linked to a research centre's outlet pipe or the like........my mistake............yes you're right we all make mistakes. And i'm so pleased that scientists can make explosives etc but don't......oops must go a programme about Oppenheimer's about to begin B)
  23. Aj mate.....we don't elect these scientists and apparently have no say as to what they do.It is horrifying to think of the power they wield and the mistakes that can/will be made.Did not the Blue tongue virus somehow escape from similar a 'safe' establishment?
  24. Anyone would think we within a few miles of each other mate :o Love the streetlight lit one.
