  1. Still dry here, after an brief burst of rain at about 4.30. Not sure the snow will ever get this far east before it dies a death.
  2. On local radio they have mentioned that is snowing heavily in Worthing town centre - therefore presumably at sea level. Anyone in that area able to confirm ?
  3. Chichester in West Sussex is considered to be the South East by the Met Office. Steady rain here in Brighton, although the temperature has fallen almost 6 degrees in the last three hours from 7.2c to 1.4c now, so maybe it will turn.
  4. Any thoughts on how far west ? East Sussex, West Suseex, Hampshire ? Thanks
  5. Interesting thoughts. The latest BBC News24 forecast has the snow over Kent, then moving through London and East Anglia and into the East Midlands. Nothing mentioned for anything further west, not even for Sussex, so starting to get a bit confused ! LOL
  6. Local radio is saying M23 ok, but A23 poor and very congested at junction with A27 outside Brighton. A27 is currently closed between Hove and Shoreham due to abandoned vehicles. Diversion via A270 is very tricky with average speed of 5mph! With possibility of more heavy snow to come, I wouldn't risk it if I were you !
  7. Just got home after walking halfway to work and then finding office was closed, so turned around again. I didn't mind as it's always fun to go for a walk along the prom in the snow No buses, not trains, very few cars. Loads of people on foot though! .... ........Oh I do like to be beside the seaside
  8. Whereabouts are you in Brighton? I think you might have said before, but I'm half asleep LOL
  9. Just woken up for some reason - it must be over-excitement - and couldn't resist looking out the window, of course. Heavy snow in Brighton. We seem to have our own litle streamer, not sure why. Measured the snow depth on the outisde table at 12cm - and it's still snowing :-)
  10. Impressive chart ! I was just wondering about your thoughts on tomorrow's frontal snow coming off the continent. A number of the BBC tv forecasts this evening have put it just clipping East Kent and then up to East Anglia and then across London and the Midlands, and completely missing Sussex, Surrey and Hants. Previously the main snow was shown as far west as the Isle of Wight. Any thoughts? Thanks
  11. Great picture ! And some people say it nevers snows in Brighton ! LOL
  12. We seem to have picked up some sort of streamer from TW to Brighton. Not a usual direction for Brighton, but I'm loving it
  13. Near Queens Park. Top of Elm Grove towards racecourse. Very big flakes and really starting to pile up :-)
  14. Certainly is on the Met Office radar! Right over the top uf us  http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/index.html
  15. Yep. It's fantastic. We seem to have our own streamer !
  16. We seem to have our own little streamer on the Sussex coast now. We've had moderate snow now for the last hour. A good covering now - probably 2 or 3 inches I'd guess - too cold to go and measure!
  17. The BBC News24 latest forecast is a bit of a change for the SE tomorrow. The frontal snow off the conitinent is now shown as clipping east Kent and then moving straight though to East Anglia. Now seems to miss Sussex and Surrey completely. Any experts / forecasters have an opinon on this please ?
  18. Latest forecast on News24 has tomorrow's frontal snow missing Sussex completely now and going direct to East Anglia. Is this likely do you know ?
  19. Presumably more favourable for some means less favourable for others though ?
  20. I didn't see the news piece, but was up at Race Hill looking across the Downs around Falmer and the hills had a good covering. Had you noticed the Met Office have issued a 'flash' warning for this area starting from 18:00 hrs ?
  21. Well I've just returned from a walk along the Downs behind Brighton, up near the race course if anybody knows the area. I was very surprised by the number of snow showers, some of which were pretty heavy with near blizzard conditions at times. A covering of snow now, even on some of the roads, and looking back down on Brighton, all the rooftops are white. Certainly a lot more snow than I was expecting today and hopefully just a taster of things to come, based on the 'flash' warning of severe weather for this area
  22. The first flurries here in Brighton. Quite large flakes of snow. I wasn't expecting anything in daylight hours today, so quite a bonus
  23. Not monumentally wrong, just slightly further south than you. Peter Giggs on News24 last night did actually say that he wasn't sure of the northern extent of the rain. Absolutely pouring down here, and it has been on-and-off thoughout the night. Still got another couple of hours worth to come looking at the radar. Just 4c and a strengthening wind.
  24. A cold and wet start here. Just 1.6c, with heavy rain, which is slightly sleety in heavier downpours.
