Yes much better set up and not west based NAO - BRILLIANT! THAT Looks Fabulous - WOW!

Model runs at the moment seem a tad on the warm side so not showing totally the catastrophic charts we were seeing previously, GFS has a bit of a west based NAO nset up also - missing the UK a bit - I still think there's a nasty sting in the tail in the winter of 2022/2023 to come yet through March - just think the models are playing around with a number of ideas but the way forward is just a little foggy - All will become clear very shortly with freezing weather and dumpings of snow I'm 99% sure of that - The SSW effects - two of them no less - means two weather bombs of massive proportions - so if this don't kick the system into a major reversal and freezing cold/snow - then I don't know what will - ANDY OUT -

models do seem to be maybe dumming down the situation a bit but i'm not being fooled one bit I still think the mother of all freezes is coming at the UK for March - I could be wrong I'm only human lol we shall see - my weather crystal Ball has spoken lol

I'm with you on this Keith - the madmod thread are full of negative cynics lol - crazy bunch of nut job scientist types who only believe what the ops on the models are throwing out but the whole set up SCREAMS FREEZING WEATHER AND DUMPINGS OF SNOW!

we'll have to see - yes the sun will be slightly higher in the sky but if the 850s are as punishing as they look then this could well be a record breaker in deed!

GFS 6z more of the same - cold winds from the east start everything off next weekend - then around 2nd March 2023 the snow starts coming - then an ARTIC blast like December 2010 - 100 YEAR EVENT - not likely - every 13 years now lol

FREEZING weather and snow will be UK wide this march 2023 - don't you worry!

@Afrayedknot don't be such a cynic - Spring will be suppressed I'm afraid - looking through my weather geek crystal ball - freezing weather and snow will be the new style for Major part of March 2023!

A SNOW DUMP is what we are gonna get it's gonna get seriously freezy and snowy as if Siberia and the ARTIC have decided to camp in the UK - ALL Models are pointing to this - had to laugh at the beeb forecaster today on news 24 - he flippin knows what's coming but won't tell anyone for fear of panicing the public - but they'll have to tell them soon!!! - them POLAR BEARS will be up and down the streets of the UK LOL

It'll deliver I'm sure - the variation in all the GFS runs just shows it isn't quite sure what's gonna happen but personally i think the FREEZE and SNOWINESS of March 2023 will be quite something and possibly up there with the record BREAKING books! - The sun won't be melting nowt NORTHWESTSNOW with the amount of cold about that's for sure lol

This mornings ECM has an EASTERLY but a dry one at the mo - doesn't go as far out as GFS though so the Artic north easterly is not showing just yet - just too early

NO CHANGE on GFS 12z - Mother of all Easterly/north easterly freezing cold air coming right at the UK - gonna be FREEZING - simples - right at the end of the run - Atlantic trys an atempt to get in and just dumps it's lovely snow/white stuff - ssw doing it's job just as predicted! - 2018 redux!

GFS 12z - no change - mother of all easterly/north easterlies incoming - towards the end of the run a huge Atlantic dumping of snow into the freezing air - SIMPLES!

Hiya Keith - nothing SNOWWISE on GFS 6z until Monday 27th FEB till around 6am morning with some light stuff the rest of the day! - Obviously detail on this yet to be sorted out - but nothing on the radar/models until then I think! - Maybe we'll have to place a bet Keith lol - actually studying the run it's not such a goodun but it'll be interesting to see what the ensembles say and other options on the table - I think that op run will be too mild and Atlantic oriented which GFS has a habit as we know of pushing back into it's set default of westerly to easterly Atlantic dross - so a run to be binned me thinks - we'll need to see what the 12zs offer later and as the ECM comes into range too - see what that come up with! - THE CHASE IS DEFO ON!

Meto have it in their sights now on long range - models are stacking up in the coldies favour even though "some" of the data is in Fantasy Island territory - due to the ssw the meto/guys in here with experience they have plus other factors ALL POINT TO a potential amazing 2018 redux! Put it this way as I live on a mountain in Wales on a country lane I'll be taking the warnings seriously and getting supplies in well in advance of this freezing potentially snowy conditions - even though I have a Volvo 4x4 I still don't like driving out in those sort of icy and snowy conditions as it can be very dangerous to do so, not that I don't trust my own driving in the conditions but I don't trust others who aren't as capable driving in such conditions barrelling into me - would rather stay tucked up at home and watch the blizzards fall outside and go out for walks in the white stuff!

Don't think so - general set up looks odds on favourite from the model info I'm looking at for end of month into March redux 2018 - HERE WE GO AGAIN - freezing temps siberia then Artic push with Atlantic lows = SNOW DUMPINGS A PLENTY - whats not to like? lol AS a PS - ALL THIS TO START AROUND ABOUT A WEEK TODAY!!!!!!!!

Latest Meto long range going for colder conditions as we head into March "High pressure probably continuing dominant across the UK through the first week of March, any more unsettled weather probably across the far north or northwest, with a low likelihood for strong easterly winds in the south. Through the rest of March blocked or easterly conditions are expected with the high likely to move further in the north and lower pressure developing to the South. Occasional Atlantic fronts progressing eastwards across the UK, are not ruled out, but less likely. Temperatures will most likely start off around average, but there is increasing likelihood of colder conditions (relative to average). Cold nights are likely in places throughout the period." Models especially the gfs long range showing alsorts of Easterlies and north easterlies, really potentially freezing weather with potential lows bumping into the freezing cold 850s especially good for Wales - red warnings a plenty just like 2018 - it looks like it's gonna repeat itself lol!
