  1. Johnp due to the complicated set up for thursday/friday in the UK with the way the low will be handled by all models - don't bother really looking too much further on yet/all depends what the low will actually do - meto must have more info and are convinced the cold weather is gonna continue in the UK through the rest of Feb and into the beginning of March - also - "Us mid-winter break comes to a crashing end Feb 10-March 20. Same thing for Europe." Winter will hit back hard - J Bastardi - 5 straight years of warm Feb/Mar in Europe ends end Feb 10 on as coldest last part of winter since 2018 arrives in tandem with US chill down.
  2. Nick123 yep - exactly where meto's warnings are progged for
  3. gfs 18z steady as she goes - snow for mid wales north and mid/north midlands north
  4. "Us mid-winter break comes to a crashing end Feb 10-March 20. Same thing for Europe." Winter will hit back hard - J Bastardi - 5 straight years of warm Feb/Mar in Europe ends end Feb 10 on as coldest last part of winter since 2018 arrives in tandem with US chill down.
  5. Don't forget though all the models in the world would struggle with this scenario and they always seem to in the UK - a fine line between snow/sleet/rain areas - ukmo (meto) still on board with warnings and the beeb - mountain forecasts temps lowered even in the south of the UK - this could still be a down to the wire event yet - it's happened before and will happen again exactly @Polar Maritime
  6. Latest beeb outputs puts mid to north Wales in the snow firing line for thursday/Friday also seemingly going with their ukmo model
  7. yellow warning for snow out for some parts of Wales from the meto for thursday morning into friday morning
  8. Met Office for end of this week into the weekend (could do with some grammar tidying up or maybe the forecaster is just excited at the wintry prospects) Friday 9 Feb - Sunday 18 Feb Cold air already established across the northern UK is likely to extend to all parts through next weekend. As it does so there is a risk of some significant snowfall for parts of the UK, perhaps central areas most prone to this as the but this aspect is very uncertain at this stage. Across the north cold throughout with snow showers tending to focus on northeastern areas while for the far south the period may start of with some rain and near average temperatures, before the cold air reaches here by the start of next week. Windy at times, especially so in some eastern areas where a notably wind chill is expected. Temperatures ranging from rather mild in the south at first, to cold, perhaps very cold in the north. GFS 06z brings a very cold easterly into the model by the following week with snow showers/fronts regularly dusting the UK and Wales
  9. Model output thread kicking off with possible cold and heavy snow/blizzards being picked up by ukmo/gfs later next week.
  10. hi folks - sorry i havent been about much but have been dealing with something wise and also been seriously ill with pneumonia - can see the potential for next week for Wales snowise - i'm sure it'll happen and enjoyed the flakes we had monday night
  11. looks like in the medium term the weather is gonna settle down with a cool to cold continental pull of wind direction then a possible major northerly after that around the shortest day!
  12. gfs 18z forecasting potential beast from the east as we go further into December - maybe a winter to remember is on the doorstep
  13. Amazingly early start to winter it seems - what is this winter in total gonna give us - could be a corker! lol
  14. and true to form the gfs 18z offers us another 1 in a hundred years snow/blizzard snowmageddon towards the end of it's run - probably a pub run thing but ya never know!
  15. medium to long range some interesting developments - early easterly followed by a possible north easterly - winter could well be coming in early this year folks - watch this space lol
  16. HELLO EVERYONE - welcome back to winter on the forum - looks like from medium term forecasting we could have an early start to winter - watch this space!
  17. No Idea - we've had a solar farm put up here - but a wind turbine farm wouldn't be bad idea as we do get alot of wind up top here
