Derecho absolutely - at the moment the models all seem to be singing from a similar hymn sheet - so it could very well be the push from the ssw that's sending them this way via a reversal around the 8th/10th March -

KTtom not sure that's correct - anything around 200m and above should defo get sleet and snow and even levels below that could see some form of wintry precip over the next 48 hrs plus -
and yellow warning of rain/snow too from the Meto A band of rain, heavy at times, is expected to move north and east on Friday. 10 to 15 mm of rainfall is likely widely, with perhaps 30 mm in a few locations. With much of the rain falling in 3 hours some travel disruption is probable. Some snow is also likely to affect some higher routes and communities for a brief time. What should I do? Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary. Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.
