  1. February 2001? or was it February 2002, one of them two. very similar!
  2. TORRENTIAL SNOW IN STOKE heaviest since febuary 2012, if not heavier
  3. very dangerous outside. we have about 2 inches already. cars are really struggling on the roads.
  4. heaviest snow of the evening in stoke now. more powdery than before though.
  5. freezing rain now with snow flakes mixed in.
  6. really trying to go heavy now. the bigger echoes curling around south stoke. awkward
  7. radar gets better and better. been moderate to heavy snow here and this aint even a 1/2 of the snow intensity to come in a few moments!
  8. yes some huge echoes coming right to do our doorstep temp -0.1 °C dewpoint -1.5 °C
  9. Hello Ian. looks like we going to get a pasting tonight?!
  10. xc shows winds becoming more "southerly", those winds are meaningless as it more about the upper winds which are pushing the band from a W,SW direction. i wouldnt worry too much at this stage. snow getting heavier by the minute in stoke. the big echo on the radar seem to be bang on in line to hit here, but anything can happen.
  11. its a developing situation, may well change once it gets over stoke and get heavier towards south and then revert back. some very heavy snow in Cheshire/ north Manchester judging by reports on the NW thread
  12. the north west regional thread is going about 20 posts per minute, some really heavy snow being reported near the liverpool area. hopefully will be as lively on here around 7pm
  13. moderate snow here for last 45 mins. already starting to stick. i expect a pasting in some areas around 7pm onwards
  14. light snow here again for last 20mins. the flakes are quite big, hope they are the same size when the main band arrives
  15. " real time" hourly video updates from the bbc for todays snowfall.... hmmmm.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/features/21198520
  16. according to the radar something meant to be falling from the sky in stoke for the last 15 mins. i see nothing. EDIT: few flurries now falling!
  17. i would personally go ahead with it. that's around the time when it will be peaking in the midlands, obviously its bout now casting and anything could happen but i don't think it will be bad enough by then. midnight would be tricky
  18. way too much doom and gloom on here some surprises on the cards for today. a good deal of heavy snowfall for at least 3-6 hours across a large proportion of the region. people are reading too much into the the 850's uppers. people tend to forget with a cold pool of air sitting for 2 weeks it wont be so simple to fight it off. we had snow in winter 2009/10 with uppers at 1c no different here. The best snowfalls come from marginal set ups, sadly it will thaw over the weekend but who cares after the wonderful two weeks we have had. enjoy it whilst it lasts. PS: im yet to see proper heavy falling snow this winter. amazing to believe we got the 15cm last Friday from 12 hours of continuous light-moderate snow
  19. Snow arrived in stoke about 10 mins ago. Didn't really expect the band to get up here so soon if at all!
  20. snow is possible all up till 0c uppers when approaching a cold pool of air that has been stuck there for 2 weeks. But will be marginal for western areas.
  21. temp was -4c at 8am any snow till Thursday will be fairly light in nature so not too fussed, maybe a couple of cm in southwest of the region. however keep an eye on Friday, could be some huge totals of snow before it turns more towards sleet/rain. then thaw on Saturday/sunday lets hope things stay on the right side of marginal
