  1. anyone up from north western areas of wales? radar showing some enormous amounts of snow. Must be horrendous conditions out there anyone clarify? cheers
  2. cannot imagine how hard its going to be for the rush hour this evening for all those commuters. we have well over 12cm in stoke, and almost double in drifts and exposed areas. just spent the last couple of hours pushing cars up the road. Why would anyone want to drive up a side road when there are alternative routes via major roads.
  3. people are worried about it fizzling out. This is common with such bands, it will pep up again in parts and then fizzle out towards the east after 6pm
  4. conditions are very much deteriorating in stoke. Amounts are topping 8cm and we are hardly half way through the band. This will be a memorable event.
  5. I was thinking the same. Funny one ain't he. Complete whiteout here
  6. Snowing very nicely here in stoke. Looks to get heavier in next 15mins judging by the radar
  7. Anytime now. Though the heavier stuff will arrive around 10am
  8. IPeople need to stop worrying about The intensity of the bad untill it gets here. It wasnt event meant to be super heavy. Moderate snow for 6 to 9 hours is enough for a few inches
  9. UPDATE: MetO and BBC now showing heavy snow for stoke on trent till midnight. They are bang on right at the moment, lets really see how long it will last Didn't see this one coming so tomorrow will be another day full of surprises!!
  10. snow is quite heavy in south stoke. been snowing since 4.30. could end up with a couple cm before tomorrow at this rate!
  11. snow enough to settle here. the 12z is an upgrade IMBY in terms of intensity. it also has picked up on this feature affecting us in the west midlands, could get a cm or 2 from this alone before the big one tomorrow
  12. yes very similar i remember, block was still strong but a bit more marginal. I was in uni (Birmingham) in those days and got a pasting, a good 10cm still have the pics, The northern extent was just a few miles north of stoke if i remember correctly? Stoke still managed to get a few cm.
  13. folks, mark and Ian are being way too cautious. Proven by history we will get snow in such scenarios. significant amounts? maybe not bu who knows. it's always about now casting. But i do feel for those in the east midlands such as Leicester, notts etc who are in the yellow zone. They things are panning out anything above 2 or 3 cm is a bonus!
  14. Oh dear! i hope your wrong. We will see snow that's almost nailed on but to see 5cm above is a huge ask under current indications.
  15. the bbc graphics are well annoying for stoke. Ive never take them face value as they only give an indication rather than specifics but it shows stoke being snowless all day tomorrow with perhaps a few flurries in the evening rush hour. We all know thats not going to happen. What you think Ian?
  16. That was rime. nothing on the radar at that time. usually happens when there is freexzng fog and the temp is below -3c
  17. 51 hours of continuous snow from Thursday evening till Saturday afternoon for stoke!
  18. Wohoooo 50p size flakes, chucking it down now. This for next few hours will double the 4cm we already have!
